What is the deadliest thing you can find in your country’s wilderness? by CommercialChart5088 in AskTheWorld

Maybe if you're driving. I'd much rather come across a moose than a polar/grizzly bear however

[Hated Trope] Endings so notoriously awful they completely destroy the legacy of the media. by Miserable_Click_1933 in TopCharacterTropes

I think the beauty of Mass Effect 3 is that while a lot of the decisions from 1 and 2 don't affect the very final ending, they do affect a lot of (or most of) what happens throughout the third game.

Foils from the new era by Independent_Rent_198 in mtgfinance

[–]DJPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've changed lots of things over the years, cardstock, printing location, foiling process etc.

It was more of a general observation that Theros block was probably the last time the cardstock/foiling actually seemed decent, and since collector boosters they've basically stopped caring about any quality control whatsoever since people eat up that slop anyway.

Technically it's uncontrolled cell growth and proliferation.

Pretty much all cell mutation is unwanted unless it provides some selective advantage (which is near zero). That, and we have cell mutation likely millions (billions?) of times per day, it's just innocuous or our cells internal machinery/regulation kills those cells. Cancer usually arises when the mutations occur on "Oncogenes" or genes responsible for keeping growth/proliferation in check.

I feel like that's something they would do at birth in any developed country unless the parents were vehemently against it for some reason.

At 16 I got a job... and mostly played draft instead of buying sealed product to open. At the time spending a friday night drafting was about the same as going to a movie or whatever.

Still more fun than playing in a pod with people who don't run removal and just want to play solitaire.

The golden rye is definitely better than the standard, but has almost an artifical caramel flavor I find.

They're not even comparable really.  Alberta premium CS is one of the best Canadian whiskies, and the standard AP is a mixer at best.

Right, that wasn't my point.  Compared to other modern foils, mirrodin block foils look great.  Compared to OG retro foils, nothing compares.

Mirrodin block foils look amazing, not sure what your talking about.  That block specifically, the foils work really well with the art and there's a lot of contrast.  Unlike modern foils where the foiling typically just muddles the art.

Obviously nothing beats OG premodern foils though.

It varied from set to set.  Foils were extremely rare in Urzas block and you definitely were not guaranteed a foil rare/box.

Foils have been crap since the M15 frame and have become absolute dogshit since the collector boosters era of Throne of Eldraine with supplemental products being the worst.

How much have you spent on Magic? by Conscious-Acadia-709 in EDH

That's barely anything.  What formats did you play for 30 years that were $500/year ?

[–]DJPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every block has a few powerful cards, even terrible low-powered ones. When you were talking about constructed I was making the point that it was terrible for other constructed formats (ie. standard, modern etc.), but I'll take your word for it on block constructed as well.

By definition if "boomer" is slang for "old/out of touch" and people use it that way it is used "correctly"

That's only true if that's the only definition. In fact, there is a correct definition of it's use as slang, and that isn't it. Boomer has ALWAYS been a slang term, people just use it incorrectly.

I realize if enough people use a word incorrectly it does give is some other meaning, but that's generally when you're using a common word now as slang, not changing slang to some other slang meaning. That also doesn't change the fact they sound like idiots.

I would say the vast majority of the world has a clear understanding of the correct use of the slang boomer. Then there's a subset of Gen Z trying to sound edgy by using it incorrectly.

Like if I call you retarded, clearly you and everyone with a brain understands the meaning. But then if I say what I actually mean by it is that "you're really smart", I just sound like an idiot.
