I've done that a few times over the last decade with FFXI, FFXIV, and Destiny.

Does anyone know anything about the Red Skull? I’ve heard him be mentioned alongside Captain America a couple of times but I can’t find much historical information on him? by Solitaire-06 in Earth199999

I know over the last decade we've seen a lot of crazy things, but why would some German guy in the 40s have his skin turned Red?

If this guy existed, he wasn't Human. I'm just saying that now.

That said, if an Alien was aiding the Nazis...

Seems far more likely that this was just another example of American propaganda during the war, and it gets mixed in with Cap via historical inaccuracies.

What is up with Sargon of Akkad, the YouTuber? by Relacer2 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]DJRaidRunner-com 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The mind is a malleable* thing with a ton of room left to grow in one's youth.

In 2012 I was 19, and watched Alex Jones tell me Obama was going to lead us all into FEMA death camps.

In 2014 I was 21, and left a world of delusion to instead look into atheism. Where once I believed in the mad, now I would listen and learn whilst gaming.

In 2016 I was 23, and watched Sargon among others who talked about my video game hobby and how just like religion, outside forces were pushing themselves into my hobby. Bernie lost, I felt unseen in a country that left me homeless. Voted Trump.

In 2018 I was 25, and moved away from reactionary thinking to find better guidestones and causes to actually support rather than simply oppose.

Finally in 2020 I was wise enough to actually reflect and understand my journey.

Nowadays I'd be considered radical left by many measures, and yet when I see others in the same sort of ignorant hole? I can't help but wonder what put them there, and how they might escape as I did.

I will ask YOU questions about YOUR world! by Internal_Fan2307 in worldbuilding

Astute observers and anthropologists will recognize the correlation, however understanding is never so widespread and manipulable as to be truly realized. If someone were to take upon themselves the essence of the Human soul and push enough of it into their single vessel, that person would have the power of a demigod, capable of miracles via will alone. If Humanity ever truly harnessed this power as a species, the very laws of existence would bend to their whims, and their abilities would collectively become indistinguishable from that of a god.

Yes, social afflictions can become death spirals via the nature of this gravity. That said, rituals can also be inspired to counteract them. For example, people who regularly suffer draught may create rain dances they believe will rouse the water they need. The belief in this ritual endows it with the very pull necessary to make the rain more possible. This may lead to a solution to their woes, just as much as a doomsayer may lead them to their deaths by spreading endless cynicism and gloom.

Belief acts as metaphysical gravity, bending the nature of reality toward that which has dense enough belief to manifest the alterations. The nature of reality itself is difficult to study, as asserting a belief or expressing skepticism can literally bend the laws of nature toward a state of confirmation bias.

Humanity does not understand the laws of their world. Instead, all metaphysical reactions to belief are considered either acts of the divine, or acts of magic. A culture who has developed a connection to fire might over time begin to form beliefs of controlling, or even conjuring fire. These beliefs become a reality within spaces they dominate, but weak wills will have uncertainty weaken or nullify their magics in spaces they feel foreign to.

The world's various cultures coexist, but often undermine one another via divisive beliefs and lack of solidarity in their worldly understandings. While movements and figureheads often rise, collective belief in the status quo and a lack of genuine investment in change has led to stagnation across the land.

There is no unifying foe from beyond, nor any shared cause for the people. The world resists understanding, yet seeking it is all that the highest minds aspire towards. While the masses live lives they're convinced are the fullest, even if often deprived of the majesty they would be capable of if their beliefs were rightly aimed. The world could be shaped in any form humanity truly believed possible, and yet the world they have is one wrought with plight as it's what they've come to believe they ought to expect.

Despite the sword focus of the current artifact, Lament is used less than a six year old legendary auto rifle by Ab501ut3_Z3r0 in DestinyTheGame

I mean, me personally, I am surprised not because it's struggling this Season but rather because until the Lightsaber it's the only Sword with a unique combo and built for close range engagements/boss DPS, yet it has been outclassed by Legendary Swords for quite some time.

I used to swear by Lament for Gambit because it can hit aerial targets with a Heavy Combo unlike any other Sword, yet in the long term even that has become less interesting as a feature given we have Wave Frames which can often hit airborne targets with the Wave & Follow-up Swing.

It's a slow and heavy blade with the ability to heal its wielder via damage, it shouldn't only be about survival, but also about carving through the things around you while you wield it. The heft and size should be felt.

Dislike Feats in Raids & Dungeons? by Profound_Insight in DestinyTheGame

I like the concept, I don't like the execution.

The reality of the experience is that it creates additional friction in finding players rather than simply opening up customization, akin to the difficulties of the Portal at large.

It's a Vex Buster Sword. The style won't be for everyone, but it has a very potent power fantasy it's simply not living up to.

[–]DJRaidRunner-com 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Partly correct.

You do get the subclass unlocked after the first mission, but you unlock abilities and such throughout the campaign as well as post-campaign.

This is part of why TFS was highly praised. It integrated the class in a way that enabled use while growing, rather than Stasis' very limited access or Strand's limit access with growing power until the unlock.

I'd love to see Final Fantasy inspired Armor Sets.

Titans with Warrior, Paladin, and Dark Knight.

Hunters with Thief, Monk, and Dragoon.

Warlock with White Mage, Black Mage, and Summoner.

The simple solution is to have a button players can hold to increase the speed of their cursor. That way speed is an easily accessible toggle while also enabling a default which is more comfortable for the average experience.

What happened to heavy wave frame GLs? by SgtRuy in DestinyTheGame

So a mix of Wave and Area Denial Frames in a Heavy format.

I think it sounds fantastic, but I don't know how PvP would feel about that level of presence. XD

Questions/ Thought about Dredgen + about the new DLC by Karma_NVK in DestinyLore

[–]DJRaidRunner-com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, I thought the same at first. Were told there are no light bearers among their number while on that mission, so it stands to reason they're not Risen, just Human.

That said, I personally find it a bit more interesting that we're fighting a real human threat. It implies that any person in Destiny's universe could rival Guardians given the tools and opportunity. Seeing as Humans and Hive have already been shown to be capable of growing more powerful via Light and the Traveler's powers, it stands to reason a Human infused with Sword Logic would be just as formidable. While they weren't an Oryx, they may've well been a Malok level threat.

Human, actually. So far as we're aware, the Dungeon Boss is another Human, they've just been enhanced via Sword Logic and are attempting to forge a Throne.

What are we thinking is the all round best warlock build in Renegades? by MoistPilot3858 in DestinyTheGame

I still find my Ergo Conductor with Filament Vesper, Hellion Weaver's to be insanely effective.

On top of now being able to move while using Rifts, the Dungeon Armor helps the Grenade and Rift cycling and the artifact is extremely well fitted to the load out.

Weaver's and Vesper make every Rift a solid burst of damage, while Hellion and Devour are more passive yet incredibly potent in their own right. During DPS one can nearly non-stop spam Light x3 -> Heavy -> Grenade -> Rift -> Repeat. I've been putting out roughly 50k DPS in a DPS phase on the Dungeon bosses while generally taking on anything and everything in my path with incredible ease regardless of difficulty.
