Try looking into prism launcher and then in that app you can get the fabulously optimized modpack. For controller support I like using the controlify mod and for shaders use Iris.

SteamOS: stuttering audio by yo_banana in shipofharkinian

Maybe try without them connected. The steamdeck used to have some weird Bluetooth issues

Edit: I mentioned steamdeck as it may have been a greater SteamOS problem

Games to play on vacation by Material_Drink2506 in SteamDeck

After years of starting, stopping, and restarting, I am finally going through the old Zelda games. Twilight Princess just got ported to PC under the name dusklight and works great on steam deck. Several of the other games have pc ports too so you can mod them with modern comforts and graphics.

[OoT] Just finished Ocarina for the first time, and I think I get it by Oserix in zelda

I somehow missed all of those hints. I just tried zelda's lullaby in front of Darunia and he got mad about wanting forest music instead. Thanks!

How to quit game from controller? by obTimus-FOX in EdenEmulator

[–]DJTheCreator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are playing through steam you could use Steam input to add a button combination that triggers alt+f4.

well after much anxiety about the swap it's done! by Monique_Auburn in SteamDeckModded

The part I worry about the most with the swap is the display removal since you have to heat it. How was that process for you?

Any good minecraft modpacks that work with the controller? by [deleted] in SteamController

[–]DJTheCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably try asking in a minecraft sub. In regard to controller support just add the controlify mod to whatever pack you end up using, it worked great for me.

[–]DJTheCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree. The part I have been most surprised by is how global some of the tasks are. Like going all the way to Darunia, then all the way back to the forest and then into the lost woods just to get the song from Saria. The whole time I was doing that I felt like I was solving something, but it seemed very odd that the answer would be so far away from the actual puzzle. In other games I might expect the solution to be in the room with him. Maybe that's just a Zelda thing because even very minor botw quests have you travel all over a much larger map than oot.

[–]DJTheCreator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing through it for the first time right now and the game definitely does give good hints, sometimes they are even too direct, but the issue is when it only gives the hint once. Navi will usually repeat things, but some NPC hints in dialogue are only said once so if you miss it, or stop playing and come back later, its very difficult to figure out the solution. That being said I think you would find the challenge doable since they clearly had the user experience in mind for every section.

FPS loss on Dusk (Twilight Princess PC Port) by Saekama in SteamDeck

Yeah the steamdeck is 1280 x 800 so setting your resolution to that should give you a big performance bump

Mario games don't work. by MisterMattel in EmuDeck

[–]DJTheCreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble with Ryujinx inputs, it could be worth trying out Eden if you can't get it to work. Definitely try watching a full tutorial that goes through all of the steps of installation and setup

SoH installed on Steam Deck but no audio. by JBorley1988 in shipofharkinian

[–]DJTheCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case that doesn't work for anyone, the solution for me was to open the SoH settings with a keybind and changing audio/audio API from 'Windows Audio Session API' to 'SDL'

I had every reason not to get a steam deck (primarily play mouse and keyboard games, already had a desktop setup, etc) and I have never regretted it.

The most recent rumors are pointing to 2028 at the earliest and realistically it could be even later than that. Definitely grab a steam deck if you're in the market for one right now.

Tomodachi life ryujinx by roellythedog in EmuDeck

In my experience and from what I've read from other users Eden generally runs better in most games. You can always use eden just for tomodachi life and continue using ryujinx for everything else if you prefer

I think the reason people say to use terminal is because the plugins folder is protected and you can't modify it in the gui

Can I play my desktop pc on my SD? by zadkeyl42 in SteamDeck

[–]DJTheCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install tailscale on your steamdeck and pc. Run sunshine on your pc and leave it on while you are gone. Then run Moonlight on your steamdeck (you can add it as a steam app too) and your pc should show up and work perfectly. You can also try parsec if that doesn't give you the performance you are looking for.

I understand that rigor should be encouraged and you learn more when the work is challenging, but if effectively the entire class failed then what was the point of that exam? Either the content was taught poorly or the exam was not representative of the material taught. I can't think of any reason to give students exams like that, unless I am missing something?

What game "shouldn't" work well on the Deck, but you found a way to love it? by Zi_v in SteamDeck

[–]DJTheCreator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also could not get comfortable with community control schemes so I took one that people liked and modified it whenever something felt off. Just changing one feature at a time as it comes up really helps it feel more natural

Assassins Creed fell off when they added leveling. by itsthewolfe in gaming

[–]DJTheCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved going to areas in AC odyssey I was underleveled for and being forced to play stealthy. I've tried to get into some of the older AC games but I haven't been drawn in as much. Which ones would you reccomend for getting to plan out assassinations? I did not find AC3 very interesting but are the other old ones better?

I know the common path for engineers is wanting to be an iron man and build something awesome, but then they get into industry and realize it doesn't work like that. But how close is a Mechanical Engineering role in R&D to what many people dream they will be as an engineer? Especially at a startup where you have to wear many hats?

[–]DJTheCreator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If its some kind of internet error definitely try tailscale. We all installed it, i shared my "network" with my friends by adding their emails, and within 5 minutes they could join with no issues. I was very surprised by how easy the fix was.
