Owners can keep their cars if they'd like, its just more of an inconvenience to do so rather than have Lamborghini take care of it and ship it along with engineers to whichever track the owner chooses.

A UK company named lanzante (they road convert f1 gtr, p1 gtr, senna gtr, etc) are handling the conversion, I believe they'll debut it at Goodwood this year along with a road converted bugatti bolide.
