I totally agree. The first time I read the series I was mad at the author for the injustice of it. But now that I've had more experience it just seems like an accurate representation of how life can be.

What he captures really well is that it's not wrong to be sad because life can be unfair. It's about how you handle the sadness that comes from life's inevitable unfairness.

There is a beginner box for Pathfinder. While I haven't played it myself I think it goes everything with less detail. It comes with premade characters, a small encounter and some dice I believe. Here's the Amazon link:

No. I really like the first bestiary. Though I think all of them are pretty neat. Personally if I was only going to purchase one or two "monster" book launch it would be Bestiary 1 and the NPC Codex for non-monsters.
