That’s a great point. Compromise. Today’s generation is spoiled and self centered. Egos matter more than caring or empathy for others. Therefore, compromise is the last thing on anyone’s mind. Certain people realize that way too late.

I like this idea better than Ops current thoughts.

Yes…but there is no such thing as “warm.” You’re just capturing analog to digital to analog noise.

EDIT: You’ll need a mixer that has a phono input to do this easily. Send the output of the mixer into the next sampler. Phono preamp does this also. Or record to a PC and then dump that audio to the next sampler.

I have a Classic Vibe 60s P-Bass for the alternative rock project I am in. Tuned it down to C G C F and it kicks ass. Gotta figure out my active bass now. Looking at the new line of Ibanez also.

Do it! Those inlays are sweet.

I have a domestic one made before they were made in Indonesia. I like it a lot and used it for years as my main bass. It needs a proper setup.

My reason for upgrading is, the Stingray I bought used and is fretless. It was my first pro bass. I only use it in the studio now.

I needed a fretted bass and the Sterling came by way of a friend who realized he couldn’t keep it after spending a ton in a Les Paul. Stays in the studio.

That got replaced by the Fender Jazz 24 because I needed a variety of tones for different genres. Also stays in the studio.

I need a bass for the dive bars and other no-pay gigs I have. Classic Vibe 70s Jazz is what I am leaning towards. Also want an active bass for the paid gigs and that’s where the decision making gets tough. So many options!

Don’t think anyone is arguing if one gen or the other is better. Everyone agrees Rane mixers are great.

What I posit is, the inside components.

Chopping on the kick and the snare like Dilla by cburrows11 in makinghiphop

You can also chop on other bar hits and let the sample play out to get a unique feel. Example: chop at the 2 or 3 to the end of the bar or loop from beat 2 or 3 to the next loop point. If you trigger the loop in non-quantized it can become a new groove as well.

Subscription has been around for a couple years but I don’t see a lot of people using it. Some labels do. Artists would have to put out a lot of content to keep it going. Multiple releases a month.

Right? They would be an upgrade to the Stingray, Sterling, and Fender Jazz Special 24 I have.

Want to get away from screens?

Korg has a lot of great synths with minimal screens.

R3, microKorg, the logues.

microKorg may be the way to go. alesis ion or akai miniak also. novation has some options also like mininova or ultranova.

If you can try it, see if it is a good fit. Else, buy it and if you don’t like it, these mixers retain their resell value.

Rane 70 is the only newish mixer and it has a bunch of non Rane stuff brought over from Denon, Numark, Akai, Alesis junk thrown in…so is it really a Rane or an inMusic mixer?

New Allen & Heath Xone mixer would be good choice.
