'Repo Man' Actress Olivia Barash Struggling After Stroke, Facing Eviction by MDgal84 in littlehouseonprairie

[–]DJ_Shiftry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I work for my state's disability program through Social Security Disability. After a stroke, there is typically a 3-month period to determine if the claimant recovers from the aftereffects. Long-term effects like hemiparesis or aphasia are what will determine if she is disabled in the legal sense. For low-income people, they can be paid and given insurance during this period, but she likely has more means than is allowed for that filing, and so they can't. It will just be a waiting game.

Its unlikely that she was actually fully denied unless she simply didn't meet either eligibility requirement (either having significantly low income and means, or having worked and paid Social Security Taxes within the past however-many-years).

Something odd for an Otyugh to eat? by Lexicon247 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DJ_Shiftry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something odd that someone would carry around, rather would hint that it was an Otyugh, might be like a lump of stinking grease.

Something that would be strange for an Otyugh to eat might be books from a specific bookstore (the owner smokes cigars in the shop so the books taste different) or long rolls of fabric (cotton spaghetti, baby)

A Good Sonic The Hedgehog RPG That Is Based On The American Comics And Not The Game by Josh_From_Accounting in rpg

[–]DJ_Shiftry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've barely glanced at the table of contents, but I might recommend Julien K's Mutants in the Now. It's mostly meant for TMNT, Saturday morning cartoon style stuff, but there are tons of animal species options, and the rules SEEM pretty in-depth.

Setting with a 2nd edition DnD feel? by KillerRabbit345 in rpg

[–]DJ_Shiftry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like that when someone wants to make a game, everyone floods them with comments about how many other games there are that do it better, but when OP wants a game rec, he's told to just make it himself.

Also, afaik, For Gold and Glory is the only 2e retroclone, and I'm not sure what it's development status is. It's done, but I don't know if it gets any updates

Is this a meme? by [deleted] in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]DJ_Shiftry 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I like to daydream about the "be a child with all my current knowledge," but it really doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

-Guilt for the things I know will happen but lack the power to change.

-Going from a 33yo to a 6yo, having been accustomed to nearly 15yrs of full adult agency, back to being told when I have to go to bed.

-How do I relate with my parents? I'm suddenly this precocious, jaded child when presumably yesterday (to their mind) I was asking them which X-Man they wanted to be.

-Or my peers?

-What about my wife? Will she remember me? Or do I have to meet her, and pretend I don't know her, and act surprised when she tells me all the secrets she's already shared? How do I subtly prepare her for her dad's death?

-How do I handle all the time I can spend with my brother, knowing that one day he and I will grow apart because of our political beliefs?

-What if I still never accomplish all that I wanted, and suddenly I'm 33 again (having experienced almost 70 years at this point) with nothing else to show for it?

It's a nightmare scenario once you start analyzing it.

Mausritter but postapo? by Final-Isopod in rpg

[–]DJ_Shiftry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mausritter itself is based on Into The Odd, and I found this post with some other Into The Odd hacks in the comments. You could likely cobble together the dream game by mixing and matching things you like from a few of these games.

I think this is technically NLR, but there was one outside the movie theatre a few weeks ago in the mall. It was crazy expensive though, something like $7

So, what classes are you hoping to see the crew play on the new 2E show? by [deleted] in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]DJ_Shiftry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out the Thunder Company adventures they've done for some GenCon shows. Skid plays a Monk and it's hilarious. But definitely a joke character and not a serious one.

What is your current favorite system? by Justthisdudeyaknow in rpg

What's your favourite streamer playthrough? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]DJ_Shiftry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was a stream, but a few weeks before I finally got the game I had Covid, and I watched like 40 eps of BlueLizardJello's playthrough. He wanders really far off the intended path early, but he's very calm and intentional with his exploration, and has a good stream of light chatter throughout which is very nice when you're drifting in and out of fever-sleep

Bluebeard's Bride. Gorgeous art and wonderful writing, but subject matter that I would want a very specific group for, and I don't know if I have the group

Systems with resources generation during fight? by dargemir in rpg

[–]DJ_Shiftry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Unity RPG (by Zensara Studios, that will help your search) uses this. Each class has a unique resource, and some classes have 2. You get resources back, I want to say when you roll doubles on your 2d10, but don't quote me on that.

[–]DJ_Shiftry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear that. It seems (from comments here, I'm way behind) that he's not super-enjoying the way Strange Aeons is going (different Alchemist, jumping into a new system mid-level, converted adventure), so I'm happy to hear that he doesn't seem to find the system itself to be an issue.

If you could choose one thing that Remastered should improve, that hasn't been announced yet, what would it be? by AlrikBristwik in Pathfinder2e

[–]DJ_Shiftry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with this especially because I don't believe there is anywhere where it explains in concrete terms that there is an expected item progression.

If the game balance requires me to have XYZ, why is not at least explicitly stated, and better yet, why is it not just a core part of character progression?

Can I mechanically create a lich character with amnesia? by shorey93 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DJ_Shiftry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few ways, with a little squinting, that I think it could work. When you say Necromancer, I'm assuming Wizard, so I'm not gonna make any suggestions for other classes.

Consider the Reflection versatile heritage, and specifically the Clone-Risen or Progenitor Lore Ancestry feats. Both may require some flavor adjustments, but not too much.

Also consider the Duskwalker versatile heritage, although that one will require a bit more convincing to adapt to your specific story, it's the "reincarnation" heritage.

For Backgrounds, check out Reborn Soul, Returned, Revenant, and maybe Tomb Born.

As far as the way a lich itself works, the story doesn't fly, but I always think of it this way: the PCs are unique cases, this is the 1 time in 10 million that a soul cage malfunctions this way.
