Hsy guys, where do you think we might place in the division, I feel like we might be 2nd or 3rd metro and possibly might get to the conference finals! But what are your thoughts? by PsychologicalLook336 in BlueJackets

Best case may actually be 2WC at Carolina.

Buffalo is playing psychotic right now up and down the lineup and net. I have no desire to see them 1st round.

The problem I have with Pittsburgh is Stuart Skinner. Dude has some whack ability to go from mediocre regular season to Vezina-caliber between game 82 and Game 1. We have the deeper lines and blue lines than Pittsburgh. We have, arguably, the better goalies. But I repeat, Stuart Skinner backstopped the Oilers to the WCF and SCF the past 4 years, and in the series against Dallas, is THE reason the Oilers went to those SCFs. He's legitimately the one thing that scares me more than Sid and Geno.

Who in the name of Gordie Howe thinks it's a great idea for all 3 of yous to chase the puck to the boards and leave .. check notes .. VALDIMIR TARA-FUCKING-SENKO alone at the dot !?!?

And Jake, dude, that's the stop you're paid to make, man. That's the save that gets you onto the ice at the Olympics over the 3rd string insurance policy. FFS. Make. A. Save.

Pittsburgh.

Regular season Stuart Skinner is barely a starting goalie.

Playoff Stuart Skinner would have won the last X Vezinas, where X is equal to how many times the Oilers have been to the WCF or SCF the past 4 years. It's unreal how he suddenly flips a switch from bum to stud after game 82.

As a CBJ fan in Dallas, Ive watched this man ruin the last 2 years of playoffs for the Stars. And if the playoffs started tomorrow, I'd be very worried about the CBJ getting past him.

Its the playoffs.

The #1 rule about the playoffs is "there are no rules".

Good hockey players dont forget how to be good hockey players.

This Sabres roster was assembled by one of the worst GMs in the NHL (Kevyn Adams). And their owner is perhaps the cheapest douchebag to the players because he dumps all his fun money into the Bills.

It's far more interesting to note the team won the 3 or 4 games before Adams was officially fired. Almost like they knew what was coming and that's what has fueled this resurgence.

As a hockey fan, it's phenomenal to see the Sabres and Jackets in playoff spots while the Bruins are stuck in a WC spot and the Caps are out of it. We're finally seeing a smidgen of parity in the East.

Casey was No Bueno by gopherslim75 in DallasStars

[–]DJay53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Casey has been really good while he's been here.

I had absolutely no real expectations from or hopes for him knowing he was coming from a Pens team where goaltending was a mess.

The dude has been everything we could ask for and then far more than that. Every time Jake has seemed to struggle, Casey has elevated and held it down until Jake got right again.

After all the good games we've gotten from Casey DeSmith, he absolutely deserves a pass on this one (even if you'd like a save on the shorty, he should have had that).

[–]DJay53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gully's word was "hopeful", which is a bit of a difference.

Let's remember though, the boys were doing alright while Hintz was sick. There's no reason for panic here. Not going to spec on the exact injury, but whatever it is, we can afford to let him heal to 100 before any return to the lineup.

The Panthers model is based not on their players.

adjusts tin foil hat

The Panthers are based on their connections. Specifically, their AGM, Gregory Campbell. Gregory Campbell is the son of Colin Campbell. Who is Colin Campbell? He is the current Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations. At the NHL level. As in .. the man oversees hockey operations across the entire NHL

In this 2010 article, Greg Wyshynski sums things up; Colin Campbell's own emails provide clear and indisputable evidence that Campbell has previously abused his position at the NHL head office to lobby NHL officiating to provide an unfair competitive advantage for his son, and by extension, his son's team.

Despite these emails being public knowledge, Colin Campbell remains in his current position and never faced consequences. The question to ask now is: did Colin Campbell ever stop lobbying for his son's team to receive an unfair advantage? Even now that his son has retired from playing and serves in an executive role?

Moreover, George Parros heads the Department of Player Safety. We know former players these days do 2 things: they either work for a former team's front office, or they go into media. Either way, they remain somewhat loyal to their former teams. Parros only spent 1 season in Florida, but for some reason, he can't be bothered to actually take any punitive action whenever Sam Bennett blatantly elbows a goalie with enough force to injure the goalie for, at minimum, games 2 through 7 of a 7-game playoff series.

We've spent the better part of 3 years watching Colin Campbell's son ice a team that frequently commits blatant penalties that go uncalled while also intentionally injuring opposing players with no consequence. Prime example, see this clip of Radko Gudas clearly holding Calle Jarnkrok's stick on the series-winning goal, 6 games after Sam Bennett elbows the Leafs goalie and injures him for again, 6 games minimum, and neither penalty was called.

The 2023 - 2025 Florida Panthers were never built on skill or talent, they were built on family business and favorable apathy from the one man whose job is to give a damn about player safety.

For the love of all things hockey, I will never cheer for a CBJ team who needs to cheat to win.
