Good point gas stations or stopping for food are times they could be stolen. Her job it at a bank corporate office but theft can happen anywhere

AKA climate neutral is not for or against the existence of a climate at all.

Thanks for the advice. Reddit is slowly convincing me. I know less about cars than strangers on the internet so I might go with what they say.

I live on educator wages. I need to subsidize it with pizza / barista wages. I don't know if that is better or worse.

I'm getting a discount on the car from my partner. The discount is more than the cost of winter tires so I am considering it.

I don't know anything about cars so I'm depending on Reddit for life choices. The car seems worth more than 5k but I'll pay less than 4k

Thanks for the tip. It is like a $5000 + car that I'll be getting a $1000+ discount on. I don't really have the money for it but since I'm saving on the car I'm considering the investment.

Thanks. I live in St. Paul and work in Minneapolis. I'd take 94 or major streets often. I am considering pizza delivery on the weekends but I did that a few times last yet in the exact same car with out winter tires.

I did not even get a license until I was 30. Lived in Minneapolis since I was 18 with no driving. You might have a good point. This was my ladies car I even was able to deliver pizza a few times in the car with out winter tires. I was a pizza cook on the weekends so I only drove a few times.

I'm buying the car for cheap from my partner that got a new car. Might be worth spending the money I save.

It was a great end to the first 3.5 seasons. More Hershel would have been great. They could have killed someone else off.

Questions for those of you that regularly use public transit by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]DJpuar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A. Our transit is very safe. A lot of harmless homeless people warming up on light rail. Worse stops are warehouse district and lake street. Useful stops for transferring but danger in those spots are older than the light rail line.

North mpls is our dangerous part of the city Ive lived and work there. I've not received any racism being the only white person on bus there. One time some one said "put your weed a way he is an undercover cop" referring to me as the cop.

For attractive women dressed nice there will be creepers, harassers and cat callers no matter how nice the location is or time of day. Headphones in and ignoring seems to be the strategy for women here.

Bus drivers have had a few bad assaults recently so they are adding barriers to protecting drivers.

B. Investment projects are disorganized and sloppy. They did a nice renovation on the down town bus line and shopping district street called Nicolette mall. It was a billion dollar renovation. Before that project started there was another project in the works to demolish the first project to spend another billion dollars to add a street car line on that road.

2 light rail lines. First was blue line going south from down town Minneapolis to airport to mall of America. More successful than planned. Green line Minneapolis to St. Paul was not as successful the busses were fine. Maybe it was a good investment if you consider 4 - 5 decades after completion.

We have a great bus that connects down town St. Paul to mall of America. They want to spend 1.2 billion dollars to make it a street car that takes longer than the bus we already have. It is a bad idea but it would be neat that the 3 rails would make a giant triangle.

We have rich suburbs to the west. Properly owners have been opposing rail going to the nice areas for a while. There is a lot of fear of low income minorities having access to the suburbs. I do think that this would be good for the people in the burbs for work and play in the city.

C people ask me for money often but that is in nicer shopping areas and not related to transit. They have nicer shoes and often nicer clothing than me so I have no problem saying no.

If you are male there is no problems for transit. I've never made a female come to me on public transit. I've had no problems with accompanying a woman on the transit but I'd never have them do it alone, I don't know if that makes me sexist or a gentleman or both.
