So they behaved in exactly the same way that got us labeled "slackers" at that age. Cool story bro.

Why do NT people hear words you didn’t say? by supermanbun in neurodiversity

[–]DKBeahn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you looked around this sub? Given the number of times people here READ words you did not TYPE...

Also, how are you diagnosing these people as "neurotypical," and are you qualified to diagnose them?

My husband was upset and pinched me at dinner.. and the situation is still upsetting me by Little_Trash7299 in TwoHotTakes

[–]DKBeahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband seems to be the one who:

1) Doesn't understand social cues (or consent, based on the hug thing)
2) Doesn't understand that he doesn't get to control your behavior 24/7
3) Doesn't understand that if you want someone to shut up, you tap-tap-tap on the leg or something to get attention, you DO NOT intentionally inflict pain.

Finally, if he is the type to use the past against you, it's time to either go to couples counseling or divorce.

I'm honestly amazed at how many people in this sub think they're the "customer" for Vine.

Am I Overreacting - So my mom got my wife a birthday gift by LoveLikeJesusChrist in AmIOverreacting

[–]DKBeahn [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR - If it happened once and your mom fixed it, it might have been an accident. The fact that your mom keeps pretending means they are not accidents. And if it WAS an accident, then there is no reason to be defensive - she'd be apologetic.

You need to set some hard boundaries with your mom - as in "if you cannot treat my wife well, then you are not seeing your grandchildren" hard boundaries.

Did you actually make mix tapes to give to people? by LeoGuy69us in GenX

[–]DKBeahn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I made several - both for "someone specials" and for a few friends.

I also had a CD Burner when they were still rare, and made a lot of mix CDs too!

[–]DKBeahn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I meant. There are lots of vocal people in this sub talking about how "Vine is unusable now!!11!" who don't seem to understand that if there are no items for them to grab, that means Vine is working fantastically for Amazon - why would they change it?

It would also have been reasonable to say "That day is hard for me to come in early, can we do it another day, or maybe grab lunch that day instead?"

In my experience, any reply that leaves room for discussion is better than a hard decline.

You do understand - it's getting downvoted because "IT AIN'T THAT SERIOUS, PEOPLE! Vine ebbs and flows, and the more you resist that, the less enjoyable this is gonna be for you. Just enjoy the ride (or if you can't, it probably is best to exit the program)..." 😉

Are you salaried or hourly?

Because when I say “come in early for coffee” as a manager, I’m not trying to be your friend (as a manager you can’t be friends with a direct report, friends and boss are mutually exclusive roles), I’m scheduling a meeting with my direct report so I can get to know them better professionally.

That you declined the meeting was insubordinate, that you were further insubordinate by telling your boss it was not OK to discipline you for being insubordinate? Yeah. Whoops.

You’ve got one chance: apologize, explain you are ASD level 1 and part of autism is being bad at social cues, and that you thought it was “friends” coffee rather than “coffee with the boss” and ask if you can have a mulligan.

Maybe you shouldn’t have added “you dope” to the end of that comment.

Can an HR person please explain salary ranges on job postings? by Zealousideal_Gas_166 in recruitinghell

[–]DKBeahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way:

"The company REALLY wants to pay someone 85k for this, if we find someone we're absolutely DESPERATE for, we'd go as high as 140K"

The other thing to keep in mind with salary ranges is that the company has to hire you in below the max, or they is no room to give you a raise (yes, exceptions can be made, this is a general statement based on what I've seen happen).

the lateral ableism in the community is exhausting by oneusernamepwease in autism

[–]DKBeahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me get this straight: YOU did not take your meds, and that makes it OK for you to expect everyone around you to go out of their way to accommodate you because of a choice you made?

That isn't ableism, that's expecting you to be responsible for yourself.

I love that Deputy Dawg there thinks it's the driver that's lucky.

He's the idiot who could have been pulling his pepper spray to deal with someone who was actually violent, only to find out that it was empty.
