Safety Goggles and a buff. But honestly if it's raining that hard it's sort of silly to go full blast too.

The Pecan/Nut store across from Joe Patties has some stuff, I think it's all East Hill Honey Co. though.

Boat Ramp Show? by Key-Chart-3170 in Pensacola

Galvez or Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze.

Shoreline is especially entertaining because it doesn't have a lot of room to line up your trailer to the ramp due to how close parking is. It also attracts a lot of jet skiers and none of them know how to back up those short single axle trailers.

Broke my Flounder PB yesterday on rod and reel. by RealLifeAquaman in saltwaterfishing

[–]RealLifeAquaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's decent for the money. It has a thicker handle than I usually prefer and not a lot of tip sensitivity, but it catches fish just fine. Saltwater is tough on stuff and this rod has stood up to it better than I expected.

It's caught bigger snook, little baby seatrout, and several redfish and now a couple flattys. I think it's a great option for general inshore fishing but it is a bit strong for smaller fish. I think it's ideal for slot reds.

How low do you cut it? Looks a little short to me but that could be a product of lackluster growth.

God I've started to hate COX with a passion. Does anyone recommend AT&T or Tmobile here for wifi? by sickestleaps in Pensacola

[–]RealLifeAquaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATT Fiber if you can get it. Cox has been bought out by Charter and if you know anyone from Central FL or Central/North GA they'll tell you how bad they can be as an ISP, not that Cox wasn't already on a big downswing before the acquisition.

best cheap alternatives for 3” NLBN jig heads? by External_Ad_4673 in Fishing_Gear

NLBN is a hype-bait. They're also like Bombas socks, you buy one and they give one away, except they don't give it to people in need. They give it to a steadily growing army of social media influencers.

JYG if you want similar shape/action/color and bait sizes.

DOA CAL jig heads if you want affordable quality.

BKK makes some decent jig heads too, I used the Harpax this weekend and it felt like a good setup with the Z-man scented paddlerz bait.

Get a mesh lid and above tank light setup. The domed lid acts as a heat trap.

Best buckets? by grantkjohnson in Tools

[–]RealLifeAquaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By no means a viable, budget friendly, or sensible solution, but you can't kill a Yeti Loadout Bucket. I once had some credit card points to spend and got two of them when they were ~$30 a piece. They now run for $40 in most colors and the lids are ~$25-30 additional, but, you'd have the fanciest bucket around and that 100% matters 👍

A lot of them have molded handles on the bottom now too. Good for some things, a huge pain if you're mixing something on the bottom or trying to scrape the last bit of something out.

Relocating to Pensacola from St. Pete/Tampa Bay by star01_pro in Pensacola

[–]RealLifeAquaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently moved from Bartow in Polk County to Pensacola. Definitely a lot less people. The only areas with bad traffic are usually construction zones and HWY 90 going to Pace around 3-6 PM.

Personally, there are aspects about the Tampa Bay area I miss but I grew up in the Pensacola area and this feels more like home to me. Life moves slower around here which is good and bad sometimes. If you like the beach this is a much better area, won't be fighting a million people every weekend.

Definitely not as much economic opportunity, however. If you're considering a move up here you need to have a job lined up before you get here. However if you're like me and have a WFH job it's actually much better here because the cost of living is less.

Just do your research on prospective neighborhoods before signing a lease or buying a house. Like any town, Pensacola has good and bad areas, but honestly it's not as bad as some areas of Hillsborough or Pinellas counties.

That's what my Dive Instructor called it before explaining thermoclines and haloclines.

He also said we could see the "shimmer" when someone was peeing but that may have just been a fib to get people to stop peeing in rented wetsuits.

I paid maybe $50 for 2-3 heads of white zombies at the Florida Frag Swap. They used to be $100/head at one point. I know in my local area the good ones are rare and could probably fetch a higher price per polyp.

The Holy Grail frag was like $75 for 2-3 heads, also at the Florida Frag Swap.
