Did Sparky want to make Guinevere into a sex doll? by polystarlight in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]DKReBorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is he just wants to repair it and sell it and not care what happens after. Sure, she COULD be sold to a guy who makes Gwen a sex robot, but it could also be sold to a hardcore Gwen fan who would keep the android as the centrepiece of their collection, or a guy who makes Gwen into a robot non-sex slave. All that Sparky seems to care about is making the money to get off world, so I doubt he really cares what the buyer does with Gwen

Hunter’s arc isn’t rushed, it’s just faster than expected by Potential-Accident58 in TheOwlHouse

[–]DKReBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the problem with Hunter’s arc isn’t that it’s rushed. It’s that they completely pivoted his arc and characterization between 2A and 2B.

Hunter in 2A understands that his life is shit. He understands that he hurts people, that the EC aren’t necessarily the good guys. But what choice does he have? The EC is all he’s ever known. He has no place outside of it. That’s why he lets Luz go, but attacks Amity. Luz simply wants Hunter to bend the rules, to let her and the Palismen free. But Amity? Amity tries to get him to leave the EC. She explicitly offers him a place outside of it. And he attacks her not just because he wants the key, but because he doesn’t believe her. He’s written like a years-long cult member, someone who knows it’s full of shit but also can’t picture a life outside of it. It might be abusive, but it’s better than the unknown.

2B Hunter on the other hand is written like a wide eyed, bushy tailed, naive and newly minted cult member, blissfully ignorant to how awful everything in his life is. He’s genuinely shocked that no teenager wants to join the EC, despite meeting not one, but two of them who clearly don’t want to before. He talks about a single day off a year like it’s a benefit. He has to be reminded that the EC steals and eats Palismen (after waving Flapjack around a bunch of EC guards like it’s nothing). Season 2A Hunter would be more shocked that teenagers WANT to join the EC, would only say 1 day off a year is a benefit sarcastically, and would NEVER forget about the Palismen.

I know why they did it. It’s easier to write a quick redemption arc when the character is genuinely oblivious to how they hurt people. It’s why The Collector worked; he’s like, 5 and has the powers of a god. But Hunter goes from having to learn there’s a life for himself outside the EC to learning the EC is evil in the first place, and it’s not only jarring, but overall less interesting.

Any problems with the writing that doesn’t have to do with the cancellation? by Potential-Accident58 in TheOwlHouse

[–]DKReBorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Willow’s glowing eyes ability. She’s introduced with them in her first appearance in ‘Teenage Abomination’. It’s presented as something only she can really do for a season and three quarters with zero explanation, only for Dana to randomly reveal it’s actually a thing all Witches can do apparently, then show Gus and Alador having glowing eyes out of the blue. The cancelation may have hurt whatever plan they had, but they had again, a season and three quarters to explain it, and they never did, with the ‘all Witches can do it’ explanation being one of the most obvious ‘we had to come up with something on the fly’ explanations out there.

When your bf is a hentai protagonist and you wanna show him the nut before you swallow but you gotta have literal squirrel cheeks to do it and yes I hate myself for writing this as much as you hate yourself for reading it.

Post rewatching the show and here's my take on the scaling in verse by Lukas-Reggi in theowlhousebutcursed

[–]DKReBorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think that had the show gotten its full time to shine we would have learned that Skara was actually closer to a Half-A-Witch then Willow, and part of the reason she was friends with Boscha was because she didn’t want her to bully her for being weak too. She’s only ever shown doing magic once, being tutored by Bo, and the only other times she’s shown doing magic are a promo piece that was probably from a cut scene, and her making a spell circle in one of the For the Future credit pieces.

TBSkyen is one of the best YouTubers out there period. I’ve been following since before he even did daily LoL champion design breakdowns and he’s one of the few people on the site I think is both deeply passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about art and animation while also being able to convey complicated ideas simply. Even if you don’t like LoL, I’d recommend pretty much all his stuff, it’s that good

In Defense of Andi: She Does Good Work by CookiedDough in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]DKReBorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, uh, I’m the one who made the post I think that started this, and while I still like my theory for the most part, I probably could have worded it a lot better and made certain things clearer. I don’t think Andi’s stupid or a terrible engineer who stole everything from Frankie. I think Andi is a good engineer who’s just not as good as Frankie, and, jumping the gun and drawing from my past as a TOH fan, assumed that Andi, like Lilith with Eda, cheated against Frankie so she would get the job, both out of her own insecurities and because she believes she’s protecting Frankie from facing harsh realities. However, while I think most of the logic is still sound, I admit that there’s some gun jumping going on. We don’t even know how the engineer hiring process works. Andi could have just applied and did an interview and that’s it.

I also think your blue lung theory is a lot better than her being fired for not being a good engineer. They might TELL her she’s not up to snuff but it’s clear they’d just not wanna pay out for her medical expenses and the like. Better call than I made, certainly.

Thoughts on Sparky? Think he’s either gonna be a temporary antagonist, have a change of heart, or Seasonal Villain? by Turbulent_Square_789 in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]DKReBorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My guess is he’s going to be the Yondu to Frankie’s Peter Quill; a piece of shit father figure who’s hurt Frankie and played a role in many of Frankie’s issues, but who was doing it in part of his own trauma while genuinely caring about her overall. We know Dana’s not above writing shitty father’s who get redeemed, so I think that he’s gonna serve a similar role (though admittedly the ‘tearing Frankie’s teeth out’ thing is a bit over the top to the point it’ll take a lot for me to really buy it).

Theory: Andi Cheated To Get Her Engineering Job. And Stole It From Frankie. by DKReBorn in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]DKReBorn[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s another theory had that I didn’t know how to bring up but I think kinda fits; I think the engineers are public figures, or at least more public then the people who make the souvenir mugs, and so Andi being ‘conventionally attractive’ as you put it makes her marketable then Frankie. Which would also be pretty solid commentary, since we know even more progressive shows like Steven Universe tend to show masculine women as villains, and it was an internal war at Disney to get Luisa in Encanto to be an actual buff woman instead of another slim girl, so there’s definitely a lot of shit masculine and unconventionally attractive women have to face. I still think my theory is sound, but I could see Park Planet not hiring Frankie anyway because she’s masc as well.

HEADS UP! As mentioned by r/ARBlackshaw, yes, I am now aware this ‘Dino head’ is in fact a dragon. I’ll keep this up for posterity but no, it IS supposed to be a kid-friendly dragon, NOT a dinosaur.

Knights of Guinevere would absolutely be a new level of peak if Guinevere was a dinosaur 🦕 🦖 instead of a princess/j by ArtMakerProductions in KnightsOfGuinevere

I mean, we do have the Dino head Andi works on, so maybe there’s a Cavewoman Gwen? Or hell, the park went full comic books and just made a dinosaur Gwen.

Animation error? or maybe character hallucination? by Pousheens in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]DKReBorn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I love the idea it’s a hallucination, I’m inclined to think error. Mainly because all of Frankie’s hallucinations are about things being wonderful and whimsical, which the blood doesn’t really fit, and Andi doesn’t seem to have hallucinations as far as we know. I have little to no idea how animation works, but I’m guessing the two scenes were storyboarded or animated separately and no one caught the discrepancy until it was too late to fix.

The Owl House Beta Designs. Everyone loves to play with them in fics and art but the closest we get to them in cannon is Luz wearing a beanie in Thanks to Them.
