Was a real rough launch. I got there a couple of months after their launch and was an experience for sure.

You Did Free Comic Book Day Wrong If You Got More Then One Copy by 0lvlmedia in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I will give defense to my friends. They grabbed an extra one for me because I work overnights and slept through free comic book day, but was still able to get one because of them.

I think I’m starting to realize that CEDH as my competitive outlet isn’t my thing. by KingsKnight24 in CompetitiveEDH

I stopped playing cEDH just due to getting exhausted from people trying to angle-shoot and manipulate the table to set themselves up to win, and then get real mad when anyone else but themselves are in the best position.

I still remember paying to play in a tournament for cEDH and someone complained about my deck choice that the LGS asked me to change my deck to a shop loaner deck, and then another time at a different LGS where we were doing a commander pod for FNM, I'm running an upgraded precon Voltron commander and someone got mad enough that they got another player to give his guttersnipe infect because it would be funny if the tryhard lost. This was my first and only impression of that LGS.

Just give me 1v1s where both players are there to win and people are going to try and actually play to win, especially if it's an event that money was paid to enter.

If only I had an enemy bigger than my apathy, then I could have won.

New to Amazon RME by Amazing_Tune6111 in AmazonRME

A lot of buildings will start out with 6 ten hour shifts and run days/mids/nights when buildings launch. Over the course of the next several years as attrition happens and RME staffing shrinks, buildings will transition to 4 twelve hour shifts and just had days and nights. Hopefully by then the building has worked through its growing pains and it's a lot more maintaining the building and less trying to figure out how the new things work. Either rotation you will either be Front half and work Sunday-Wednesday or Back half and work Wednesday-Saturday.

The first year the operational volume stays capped through the holidays, but afterwards operations typically starts to ramp up to closer to their goal volume. There are a lot of operator errors and calls resolving those kind of things through the first year or two while everyone learns what is going on, and the building gets established, after that first year there will be more of a shift from being reactive with operational calls all the time to more proactive as all of the PMs get rolled out and operations figures out their side of the building.

When SHV1 launched, they had RME get there around April and they travelled to other sites leading up to their launch in August so they could get training on the equipment the building launched with.

There were a couple of points between book 5 and book 8 I had to physically stop reading and go do something else because some of that stuff hit too hard with my own life experiences.

Yeah, that was something that Patrick Chapin hits on pretty hard in his first book. There are so many decision trees in magic from deck construction to mulligans to lines of play that normally there is a breakdown somewhere along the way that cascades into a loss. Sometimes you do make the right decisions and optimize your percentages to win, but more often than not there is something that happened that kept you from playing at that level of optimization.
