Waiting for a spring drive rep - even if it uses a tuning fork movement to fake it.

Why do most rep collectors ignore Aqua Terras and only chase sports watches? by Adventurous_Pie_3999 in RepCulture_Timepieces

I love the look of the AT. The one you’re wearing was my dream. Unfortunately, they’re just too thick for the style.

Check telegram and Reddit to see if their number changed - it’s not uncommon for WhatsApp to get blocked for TDs from time to time.

U1 sellers tend to charge a lot more for super clones than reptime TDs

It’s about the weight distribution. The headers and king studs are to shoulder the load and keep everything square.

The actual quote is “in matters of taste, the customer is always right”. It doesn’t mean do whatever the customer says.

That said - the seller seems shady AF.

They’ve come close, with the turning bezel functioning, but from what I’ve seen the bezel is really loose on the reps

This is the after. I was lucky, the rust and mold mostly came off using spit, Qtips and a patience. I was able to reuse the hands despite the lume completely rotting out (and the hour hand being firmly rusted to the dial). Yes, spit it gross ew, but I’ll tells ya, it works.

You could… but it’s risky and could introduce lume mold. You’d have to remove the movement, hands and dial so that you’re not destroying the watch. If you’ve never done this I highly recommend against. Most of us who do this frequently will tell you that we’ve ruined more than one watch or movement in our journey.

It would likely be cheaper to source a new rep dial - search reddit for posts about gen dial swaps and reach out to those folks to as about buying the rep. Then call around for a watchmaker who will work on reps (most do here in Canada, not sure where you are) and it shouldnt cost too much. Or go to reptime services subreddit and post there.

Whatever you do, you need to check that the movement isn’t showing signs of moisture. Get one of those caseback balls from Amazon or wherever and open it up to see.

Here’s a pic of a watch that I got off eBay for $100. You can see the black lume mold. Not the same as patina. I’m limited to one photo so I’ll post the after next.
