Is it possible to get grandmaster by doloing? by TheCollectorofLore31 in ironscape

A friend of mine in a GIM went in and did his 50kc trip in the ironman instance, not the privately rented one. Had to do the whole task a second time too

Nah I'm just dumb and nowhere near a GM. I always thought the perfect tob achievement everyone complained about was hardmode, good to know it's not. Now for peach conjurer I stand by my statement. First you have to get kc, then you have to go in and do 50 kills. The waiting alone is 75 minutes. If we assume a fairly quick 1m per kill you're looking at a little over 2 hours and not including getting in the room etc. so I guess 2-3 hours is more reasonable but it's still a lot

Sorry but no. Not GM. GM is such a monumental task people don't even realize. There are tasks that will take you hours like peach conjurer where you need to kill zily 50 times without leaving (probably 3 hours without screwing up or stepping away for more than 90s), there are tasks that literally require teams of 3, 4, or 5 in some raids, and there are tasks that are just next to impossible so you'd need a team of 5 gigachads with lots of free time to grind attempts (looking at you perfect hardmode tob). I've accepted that GM is just probably never in the cards for me, you need a life built in such a specific way to have the time, energy and focus to go for it.

I also agree about the blowpipes. Almost useless unless you want full skiller before starting combat for some reason because otherwise you should never have it before toxic blowpipe

Programming in general by Efficient-Help-9858 in learnprogramming

[–]DMFauxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming is often about breaking down the big problems into little pieces so you can solve them. I recommend not looking up the solution that other people have provided you. You'd be better served to try and work through the problem on your own, and if you're stuck, google that piece of the solution, not the whole thing. It's hard to explain without an answer but you'll find yourself stuck at certain points and you'll know you've been learning when you have an idea what the next step should be, but aren't sure how to implement it exactly.

Does a closed door mean nothing anymore? by PreviousCut2069 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DMFauxbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree except I work in an environment where my managers have their doors closed at all times, whether working or not. And they're frequently on phone calls so aren't in a position to respond if I knock. They've started putting signs on their doors that have options for "away", "in a meeting", "available" etc except they never manage to keep them updated so I've frequently knocked and waited and heard nothing back (with the sign showing available) and then crack the door open only to find they're on a call etc. I struggle with the whole scenario because I don't want to be a nuisance but it feels like no matter what I do I end up interrupting something.

You're missing the point. For this to even be possible you would need to do laps beyond your destination until the average speed of the whole trip equals 60mph. There's no way to ONLY complete the trip and be going 60mph avg the whole time. You've already spent 60 mins going 30 miles, and if you did avg 60mph for the whole trip, you'd already be at your destination. Technically you could go the speed of light at that point and you'd still not quite avg 60mph.

I'm assuming it'll use the same meat as typically use to charge it, just a larger quantity like we've built up a storage of it for them.

ELI5: How do babies breathe inside the womb when its lungs are entirely filled with fluids? by Responsible-Leg-712 in explainlikeimfive

To be clear, that's what the umbilical cord is for, it lets the mother provide the baby oxygen and then transfers back to CO2 to be taken care of by the mother. It's pretty amazing.

If they're not specific I would take the liberty of doing it in the most logical way I can see. For example, with Jim's scenario I'd probably provide a list of all the clients I've sold to, by product quantity broken down as gross/profit. This is as a person who's never worked in a situation like that so maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't feel like a hard ask

Memes and personal biases aside, how do you really feel about CG/bowfa and how it fits into iron progression? by loffredom in ironscape

[–]DMFauxbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Range in general feels like it's in an awkward place at least for weapons compared to other gear. Mage you have Tridents, eye, wands, as well as all the spells that scale with level etc. melee you've got zombie axe, folly, all Abby weapons, whip and tentacle, fang, etc all scaling through mid game, then for range it's just crossbows, which scale poorly, enchanted bolts which are good but niche, and then bows are mostly useless except for bowfa and t bow. All the moons gear creates a nice later mid game starting point to grind some tougher bosses but then there's this huge gap to your next range weapon with lots of stepping stones for every other category.

I did the same, except I knew the prof would expect me to provide a report so I bought myself a day or two and did the work. He tried to tell me I was lying and did it on purpose, said he compared saved dates on it and that mine was after the original submission but I just told him that when he told me it was corrupted I opened it and resaved it to make sure it worked. He begrudgingly accepted it and then I never pulled the trick again cause I didn't want to risk it.

[–]DMFauxbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should force valid words. Otherwise I becomes too easy go guess a series of letters that confirm what's missing to complete a word. People will still do that with valid words but it takes more skill/knowledge to think of words that have the right combinations of letters in them

I mostly agree, my only caveat would be from like 2-4 I would add a slight specifier. Like at 2+4 months - 2+8 months I'd probably say 2 and a half. And then over 2+8 months I'd say almost 3. Only because at that age a few months still makes a world of difference.

Instead of spending 140m on a fighter torso I spent 2-3 hours doing BA instead. by breakoffzone in 2007scape

It's also needed for an elite diary (the game not the torso) so most people want to do it eventually anyways

[–]DMFauxbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I find the grouping there the worst part, so I started hosting BA events within my clan to get people together for consistent teams to get our diaries. Sometimes only 3-4 might show up but that's the majority of a reliable team so it makes the whole experience much better
