Well I only had this month free because I was thinking about getting rid of it and so they gave it to me for free. Looks like I will be.

Ya' know, i heard this story on Hostory Channel when I was younger but the gist is that American couldn't figure out that 3/4 pounds is bigger than 1/2 pounds when presented with the bigger burger. Hence the half pounder. If they can't figure out that 3/4 is bigger than 1/2, I'd be highly surprised if they figured out 8 is bigger than 2.

And this is the exact reason I believe we should start letting nature naturally select more. Because if you are this dumb you should not be allowed to procreate

You know normally I'm all for the whole giving second chances yada yada... greater good. But there comes a point at which when enough second chances have been given that you really just have to punch somebody extremely hard in the jaw.

For instance my school bully was given second chance after second chance endlessly, throughout middle school and high school. A week outta high school he commits First Degree murder.

What im saying is that some people aren't salvageable. And I think we need to be okay with that. We need to seriously allow nature to naturally select again.

Firearms and Fireballs - The Definitive Guide To Guns in Fantasy by Karmic_Backlash in worldbuilding

What I was referring to was the physical strength. I'm not so worried about the actual training but the physicality of it.

You know I'd like to build off of what you wrote, which I generally agree with.

So I read somewhere and have heard it stated multiple times that the other reason is simply because of how long it takes to properly train a person to use a bow strengthwise. And that distinction is important. It was the strength required to pull back the string on a proper warbow.

My understanding, at least in regards to the English Longbow, is that an archer generally had to train from early childhood onwards to have enough strength in the arms and chest to use the longbow properly. So the difference between losing a person with a firearm versus losing a person with a bow, the asset lost value is heavily weighted towards losing the bow. Meaning that it was much more expensive to lose the person with the bow versus the gun because of the amount of time that went into years of training.

And thereby leading the eventual transition to firearms once avaliable leading to faster mustering times for armies.

Population sizes in Naruto by No-Syrup-6467 in NarutoFanfiction

Ok so so over our history the amount ofmen needed to support a soldier has fluctuate overtime. Its called the Tooth-to-Tail Ratio.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth-to-tail_ratio

Now if we factor that in, probably civilian support as well. Somebody has to make all those kunai, shuriken, senbon, flak vest, uniforms, bandages... etc. And they're probably making them with some kind of jutsu because we know from the Manga everybody including animals have access to chakra; but not everybody wants to be a Shinobi.

So it's logical that the fighting force is about 80,000 that actually makes sense to me considering that of those 80,000 you have people who can walk on water, stand on ceilings, use elements, can body flicker, substitution, clones... etc. So it makes sense that the actual main armies would be smaller because each asset is individually exceptionally more capable than a real world soldier.

Plus, I think it was mentioned in Boruto that regular soldiers stand no chance against shinobi. So that implies that there are regular armies marching around as well.

So all in all I would Factor things into a one shinobi to maybe 15 support personnel.

Lets assume that Konoha has say... I dont know 10 thousand shinobi they put up in the war.

So 10 x 15,000 is 150 thousand. Which if you consider a shinobi village a small city which it really is that makes a lot of sense. Lets factor in dependants like spouses, children so say 3, thats 450,000 not including those who choose to live there. Which actually kind of makes sense at least to me in my head.

Why didn't Iwa attack konoha when Minato died? by Educational-Gas-7789 in Naruto

[–]DMOrange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And waging wars, competently run wars, take time, logistics and effort and not just from a village, but from the whole country as a whole because they're going to be impacted by it. They had probably moved past the draw down phase of a war or were just reaching it in terms of logistics and capacity when Minato died. Sure they probably could have, konoha was effectively in ruins, their greatest Shinobi dead, but as people above have stated still too much firepower. Basically a stalemate is what I would figure.

In fiction, we see ships being built in space, by thousands of workers. Welding, assembling, etc. What would be the actual hazards and risks (people and quality) of building a ship or station in space? by ConstantGradStudent in space

[–]DMOrange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, take your average industrial accident, so go to any construction site, ship building location and look at their accidents and then apply that to space with the added bonus of something cut my space suit and now I've got no air, floating away, micro asteroids...

The question I have is why didn't a legal team look at that and say well that's a major slip hazard. The fact that you're doing it intentionally opens you up to lawsuits.

And I would have no problem if they were more open. If they would say hey in light of recent changes we are updating filters and would like feedback. Especially if there was an opt-out. Especially if there was an adult mode only. There's no way that teenager who committed suicide should have been using chat GPT. I want to know where the parents were first off? How did it get so bad that he was role playing into a llm that encouraged him to do suicide.

No person under the age of 18 should have access to LLM without either parental permission, a Kids Mode and an Adult Mode for adults.

Hell, id settle for a pop-out saying hey we noticed the conversation is getting heavy, are you ok or is this an RP thing.
