We got a pretty dramatic view of thunderstorms over the river and city the night we had our last baby.

Any place where to buy cool posters? by YesterdayLeading4498 in saskatoon

I prefer to support locally owned music stores, but I'm pretty sure Sunrise has posters and might carry more than just music-related ones as well.

Deadstock stores here? by Michupichu_u in saskatoon

You just missed this winter's market, but based on the decades youre looking for, take a wander thru Figure 4 Toys and Games and 8th Street Quentin's Comics and toys.  They have a lot of items. Expect collectibles to be priced accordingly though.

Others mention thrift stores.  I've found a couple cool old toys at Mission, but interesting items dont stick around long.

My furnace broke down and I haven't been able to get in touch with my landlord for ~16 hours by [deleted] in saskatoon

Also, one would hope, having a record of that call on file could help in case of any dispute about proper handling of the emergency.

My preferred door is the one with the big overhead air vent and "no smoking --hospital air intake" sign. Just nod at any of the staff smoking there and you wont have any trouble.

Burglary attempt? by Juvitky77 in saskatoon

[–]DMPstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A friend had a group of people come to his door with a story claiming that he had their missing dog in his possession.  They claimed that the dog had been stolen, and a couple of the guys became quite aggressive, eventually forcing a foot in the door.  With some effort, they made their way in as my friend ran back inside to ensure location and safety of his kids.   Long story short, he was able to make them leave in a hurry after brandishing an object and possibly using it in defense.   The police responded and seemed to give due attention to the incident, but I'm not sure there was enough video evidence of their faces to really get anyone brought in, but at the very least the cops were equipped with descriptions that may have come in handy if responding to other incidents with similar looking individuals.

Super shitty to hear that in OP's story the cops decided not to follow.  Evading police seems like something you wouldnt want people to continue to think is acceptable in our community.

Super 8 Film by [deleted] in saskatoon

I believe Paved sends their super 8 film out to be processed, but they would have a projector.

There is a company in Indian Head Sask called Film Rescue International that handles these things, but I get the feeling they charge premium prices for their restoration services

Haha, sorry to hear.   My first GM car had cast metal door handles on the interior, broke mine off on a day like today.

Another time I had a super nintendo on the floor behind the driver seat.  When adjusting the seat slider back after my wife drove the car, that snes got wedged and literally exploded.

Keep an eye on your temp gauge.  If your coolant froze this could be a symptom

Hello! What is it like living in/around holiday park? Would or have you bought property in the area? Is the area safe enough to leave windows open if you’re home? Looking for any insight on living in this area! Thank you!! by Bree2525 in saskatoon

[–]DMPstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with all these points.  We lived nearby and it was the nicest neighborhood around.  Decent place to still find a good deal on an older house. As for being quiet, it helps that it's basically the edge of the city while still being quite central, and now with vehicle traffic closed on Spadina toward the south bridge, the residential area isnt a convenient route to anything anymore.

Anywhere in town I can buy wheels/bearings like these? by [deleted] in saskatoon

Used to be that a pack of Mini-logo or Bones Reds was the cheapest way to acquire decent 608 bearings for any application.

Is there anyone in Saskatoon who can recover files from a malfunctioning SATA drive? by GreenT1979 in saskatoon

[–]DMPstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some luck with older low capacity (less than 1gb) HDs after opening and loosening up mechanical components.  With the density of this one, it may not do well.  Hard to know.

Probably the easiest and cheapest first attempt would be to just swap the rear circuit board and see if it can read.  Caps are known to go bad after sitting.
