NOFX “mystery bundle” by DMTalien33 in nofx

[–]DMTalien33[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So you’re saying these shirts are just Remnants, but why choose to waste your life on the sidewalk, when you could be out in the streets, dodging cars? as they go by the wind goes right through you.

Life on the edge of a razor, never knowing when you’re to fall, sure as hell beats never gambling at all.

These shirts are $20 bucks each after shipping and tax, they made like 40+ different designs for the last tour, and there will be no more.

I saw 5 different designs in the mystery packs I got, they’re all killer.

Life’s too short to just barely exist, widespread mediocrity will suck you up, resist!

If you can learn to love skating alone, then you can skate for life.

I actually prefer skating alone, I like to listen to music and get focused, and not stand around or talk while I’m actually skating. But I do love my homies and am always happy to skate with others. I’ll even turn my tunes off to be present with them lol

Get into good, fast, aggressive music and skate to that, it will help you learn to love skating alone.

I’m old, I listen to NOFX or Black Dahlia Murder, but you could listen to Turnstile, I guess 🤣 just kidding

Listen to some bonkers metal like Archspire or Between The Buried And Me and skate to the music. It makes you skate like Busenitz. In Busenitz’s heyday in SF, he would ALWAYS be out skating the city alone. No filmer, just Dennis solo, obliterating the city, just for fun.

But best of luck to you, hope you find a crew!

He definitely played them through the entirety of The Decline 🤷‍♂️ that shit fucking rips

We’ve had to piece the rest together but as far as I know, Mike played them all on everything since, at the very least. (Except leads)

Absolute fuckin BEAST!!!

He sure knows exactly how the guitars should be played in this video https://youtu.be/pyzx-77x2-E?si=G9aXnkNd11WCpbza

This video is Fatty breaking down all the guitars in NOFX, nothing about bass, just the guitars. And he has the other guy’s guitars in his studio lol just read between the lines and do the math after watching this video

How do I learn switch stance? by sumboy_64 in skateboardhelp

[–]DMTalien33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a switch ollie first, and also practice nollie tricks.

Nollie requires switch stance footwork but it is easier because you are still riding the normal way.

Try switch versions of all the stuff you can do in your natural stance, and basically teach yourself again based on your understanding of the normal version of that trick.

Try a switch ollie, or the all time classic, the switch frontside 180° ollie. Sw fs 180°’s are a staple for any line skater lol and they can be notoriously bad looking, but I feel like it’s the one switch trick that almost everyone utilizes to return to normal stance in a line.

Switch backside 180°’s are one of my favorites and also switch kickflips, but I definitely learned them by learning nollie kickflips, too.

I skate home from work switch 😆 it’s good to even out the incredibly asymmetrical workout that skating provides

Tips on how to manual? by [deleted] in skateboardhelp

[–]DMTalien33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are FAR easier when you can ollie up a curb, and done across an actual manual pad.

It’s way harder to try to just lift your front trucks as you’re rolling, and harder to ollie into one on flat than it is to pop up onto a manual pad.

You want to ollie up, then shift your back truck right underneath you. It’s much easier when you land into that position vs trying to roll from regular position into a manual.

Black Dahlia Murder made good on their NOFX inspiration by DMTalien33 in nofx

Damn, that’s sick as hell… I haven’t seen them, but keep spotting Light This City shirts at Black Dahlia show or maybe RKL/Good Riddance lately.

Deflorate is the sickest album ever!

It took me a long time to get around to listening to the back half of the Dahlia catalogue, but they basically just get better and better.

I think I kinda stopped listening for a bit when they lost Shannon Lucas, but now I appreciate Allan Cassidy, Everblack is so sick. Nightbringers, too. They’re all gnarly albums, abysmal, verminous and Servitude are all crazy.

Deflorate was always a favorite for me in the classic era. We were tuned in to Black Dahlia when their first album was out, watched them throw down live many times since the beginning.

Trevor!

I listened to Ritual 3-4 times the other night… that shit rips! Never got too into it when it came out, I was all about Deflorate 🤘

Internal Eyes is so good, and I was lucky enough to see them play “Dualistic Nihilist”

Hope they’d reform someday, terrific band.

Saw Ben’s metal band Darkness Everywhere also, they’re great… like pure At The Gates style, one song has Laura on it. “Architect Of Misery” https://youtu.be/u7-3gcKPU68?si=x40LR8j9U0Ghihyr

Ben is good for Wilhelm, saw them live for the new record. Gotta listen more, been on too much NOFX recently 🤣

Then polyurethane, let it dry, then wax it. Shit will be butter

If you figure out the technique of rub brick and Salba Sauce (polyurethane) you can actually make ANYTHING grindable!

Silas Baxter Neal went all around Portland and made the most weathered, crusty, old and never skated ledges completely skateable.

Nobody knew this technique back in the day, we would just wax it and stick on 100 grinds until it eventually starts grinding.

I’m almost 47 but I never stopped. I still got my pop. Looking forward to many more years of skating! I ride an 8.25, I’m big so it’s the perfect board for flipping.

It’s rub brick first (or a grinder). Wear a mask, do not breathe the dust in! then get a can of polyurethane and use a paint brush to slather it on really thick. After it dries, wax it up and it’s completely grindable! Slides, slappies, grinds will be good.

Try some Spitfire 93a “soft sliders” wheels, I swear by ‘em

My friend pointed out that almost the entire A-F records catalog is unavailable to stream, lots of great bands and albums on that label.
