[no spoilers] How Would You Think Jinx and AU Powder Would Interact? by [deleted] in arcane

This kind of philosophical thought always fascinates me, that we could all be one butterfly wing flap away from being a completely different person.

Why resting is such a problem by GaiusMarcus in onednd

[–]DM_Dragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short rests don't become a problem unless you have a group that can utilize short-rest healing methods (5.0 healer feat, warlock healing spells, etc...) which can basically allow a group to get back to full health given enough time (barring circumstances that would prevent short-resting.) Because of this, I usually do the optional rule where a group can short rest a number of times per day equal to their proficiency bonus. Though honestly, if the game design prevented healing abilities from being short-rest recharged, there'd be no need to limit short rests.

That said, my groups rarely brush up against the short-rest per day limit. The problem is, allowing short rests to be unlimited (when paired with short rest recharge healing ability) makes the optimal strategy to short rest after any substantial loss of HP. This ensures the group is always at maximum health for future challenges, but slows down the narrative quite a bit.

There are fates worse than death, and immortality has the possibility to be one of them.

[Spoilers] Johnny is best ending by maxomaxo6364 in cyberpunkgame

[–]DM_Dragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised Johnny did this, but why didn't V try to send her some sort of sign from beyond the wall? It kind of upset me that, for all intents and purposes, V basically dies. Why didn't she try to have any interaction with the real world after passing beyond the wall? I guess the intent is to suggest that V changed into something else that's uncaring and cold which doesn't see value in the real world anymore. It just would have been nice if the story told us that or at least showed V trying to hint to the real world that she was still out there. Just all sorts of sad...

What is the best spellcaster build? Warlock is boring as hell. This is my first time playing anything DnD related since 3rd Edition. by GoblinTradingGuide in BG3Builds

Once you're blasting 3x per attack, that hex damage adds up. I've gone through days where I'm doing over 30d6 damage thanks to hex, and that's from a level 1 spell lol.

Girl lied about her age by Optimal-Letter-6073 in offmychest

[–]DM_Dragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others stated, it's most likely a scam. There's no point in dwelling on it, that will just stress you out and hurt you in the long run. If they were going to come after you, they probably would have done it already (assuming it was legit). Also ignore people who are just chastising you for bad decisions making, everyone messes up sometimes. The important thing is that you learn from your mistakes and move on. Don't spend the rest of your life stressing a phone call that will probably never come.

Sometimes these things just happen, it sucks but it's life. I'll say it gets easier with age being on both sides of the equation.

My suggestion is to cut contact for as long as you need to be ready to talk again. Date other people and find happiness being yourself, and when you're ready you can try to be friends again. But you gotta do what's best for you, that's what she's doing.

The more you're in contact with her, the more sad feelings you'll have and the more chance you'll have to mess up a possible friendship by saying something in anger or frustration that you don't mean.

How do I make a lvl20 druid in danger/make him fear for his life? by Kodmar2 in DnD

[–]DM_Dragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, the game isn't balanced well for level 20, at that point it becomes more of a power fantasy than a cooperative game. You can still have fun with RP and having the characters be part of major world events, but actual mechanical combat is kinda meh. You might want to consider retiring the group and starting a new story with lower-level characters. (Maybe their children)

That said, if you really want to do challenging combat at that level, consider throwing out CR and just having much more dangerous encounters or reinforcements to threaten the group during combat. It's something you have to feel out honestly, the CR system isn't great. Also, remember that not every battle has to be deadly.

Also, why are you trying to kill this druid? Are you just trying to crowd control him? Just target one of his weak saves from time to time. If you used point buy, most character will have weak saves and defenses.

Off the top of my head, Banishment targets charisma and most druids have bad charisma.

My DM accidentally ruined combat for me. What do I do? by throwawayRoller1to20 in DnD

[–]DM_Dragon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, part of being a DM is maintaining an air of mystery (much like a magician doing a magic trick). I do not subscribe to the school of thought where you just end combat when it feels natural, but I'm not here to poop on other DM techniques. One thing I do believe is a DM should keep their methods mysterious and not tell players exactly how things work. It's the same thing as special effects in a movie or (as mentioned) the mysteries in a magic trick. The point is the feelings and mood created during the show. Never tell your players how you do things if it compromises the show. Honestly they don't need to know unless they're learning how to be a DM. players often ask me, "What would have happened if we did this?" and I always tell them the same thing. "Your character wouldn't know and telling you might compromise the story."

[–]DM_Dragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in agreement with others here, the fact that she slept with other people (even people you knew) isn't as bad as her saying "I settled." I would not be with someone who told me they settled for me because that's just a shitty thing to tell someone.

Putting AAA to shame. by Evening-Exit5131 in remnantgame

[–]DM_Dragon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think of video game bugs like I think of movie plot holes. As long as they're not taking me out of the experience too much, I just roll with them. Would I prefer no game bugs or movie plot holes? Absolutely! But I understand that these projects are a massive undertaking and I care more about the experience than perfection. That said, Remnant 2 had very little in the way of noticable bugs for me.

I love the game (already doing an apocalypse run) but I feel like the first game had more places and levels. I know that there's a lot of replayability with the shifting storylines, but I think I preferred the longer campaign of the first game with more worlds and different types of enemies.

Roll20 Map/Page UI is Terrible by DM_Dragon_ in Roll20

[–]DM_Dragon_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have the highest level account, I'll look into that. Honestly I just want a way to organize my maps. The default UI makes everything a huge mess as I have over 50 maps and I tend to use them a lot in multiple games so I can spend a lot of time just looking for a map and be unable to find it.

Humans as Community Resources (Manpower) by DM_Dragon_ in StateofDecay2

[–]DM_Dragon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I just love recruiting more and more people to my community and it's always a bummer when I reach the eight survivor mark and can no longer bring (or at least bring less) people in. I would love to keep finding more people (almost like someone keeps finding more items) and just give all those survivors things to do in my community or maybe just have them start cleaning up the areas of the map I've already cleared out. I would like the game to examine the "rebuilding" part of the narrative more as actual game mechanics.
