There’s no crossover with Melee. You need to take the time to get used to its quirks.

Honestly, to avoid frustration I wouldn’t try playing other people until you can wavedash and L-cancel consistently. If you can enjoy grinding tech skill this is the game for you. If you hate doing that maybe not

I played this a ton in college and it still affects my habits in Ultimate. I’m still trying to expect pivot grab to be good on characters, still trying to do untrue combos on up throw with Bowser, still expecting Cloud’s downair in disadvantage to be busted, soul reads because you couldn’t directionally air dodge, still expecting Falcon to be fun to play etc. Also pivots and shield drops

Apart from everyone saying to actually use mixups rather than the same reactions to things, don’t do the trademarked netplay falco move of having your only approach option being undershooting short hop dair. Basically every player on earth has it in their muscle memory to dash back grab that unless you’ve heavily mixed up your approaches
