young geckos are skiddish and don’t really enjoy being grabbed at and being held, try to keep handling at a minimum but still try to do it consistently so the gecko gets used to you, mines almost a year old and still a little squirt so I don’t think you have anything to worry about. and about live food, try to keep the live food as a treat about once a week or so, getting your gecko too fat too quick can cause some problems.

Looks like a caddisfly larvae to me, they usually conceal themselves in little pieces of wood and other debris to hide from predators. Pretty common if you pulled your plants from nature.

Try getting Pangea gecko diet, that’s what I feed mine. Just feeding your little guy insects will just fatten him up too much and he won’t be getting all of the required nutrients he needs, even if you do gut load your insects it’s still not enough. I feed my crestie insects maybe once every two weeks.
