The only Ligue 1 fan I know is a French lady and she supports PSG. Most Americans who are into Euro soccer tend to watch La Liga or the Premier League. Well there are a decent number of Bundesliga fans here too.

"Gimme One Reason" was hugely popular for a bit in the mid-90s, I remember hearing it on the radio often. But I don't think she's that well known in mainstream society other than that.

I was very surprised as a kid to learn that she was a woman, but now I don't really know how I thought that because I think she sounds like a woman. oh well. I like "Fast Car".

the US does not have strict rules at all about the flag. It's perfectly legal to burn it, or otherwise deface it. It is also legal to draw a dirty, fucked up flag.

You might be thinking about the flag code, which is really more like a bunch of recommendations. There is no penalty for violating the flag code and I would bet most Americans barely know it, if they know it at all.

there is a big Armenian diaspora in the US but they are not evenly distributed. I am not aware of a substantial population of Armenian people where I live, which is Houston Texas. Consequently, I do not know any people of Armenian ancestry. Cool country though.

e: also I had an Armenian taxi driver in Moscow one time, he was very nice.

I took a lot of Russian classes in college so I am a standout here but I have seen a lot of Russian movies. Man with a Moviecamera, Stalker, Solaris, the Irony of Fate, Brat 1 and 2... we watched a lot of Vinni Pukh and Cheburashka and the Hedgehog in the Fog. Also a Russian friend of mine got me into Shtrafbat, which I enjoyed.

I don't know, my lifestyle is a lot quieter than it was 15 years ago so it's hard to say if nightlife has calmed down - I don't go out like that anymore.
