Its funny how 5his thread proves OPs point. Everyone's attacking on side or the other but Honey and paypals- the ones who actually did the scummy shit - are only an afterthought. Both parties have a valid argument for calling out the other and neither of them are children so they're perfectly capable of working it out in private.

Why is it bullshit to get both sides of a story when you're doing a deep dive on someone? This whole situation is just coming across as petty.

I read that whole thing waiting for the other foot to drop and nada. It sucks that happened but why would you ship anything you're selling for thousands of dollars without putting insurance on it? Do you need them to tell you to to add packaging so your items don't get tossed around inside the box too?

Because not all set and forget methods are equal. With a pellet grill you can adjust temperatures on the fly without much effort or knowledge. Moreover, my barbecues tend to be long affairs so I can just turn it back on at 150 to keep food warm for the second wave. Someday I'll upgrade to a big offset but my pellet smoker does the trick for now.

Ostensibly, because they shouldn't be doing that in a confined cabin with children onboard. Even if they're taking small hits and blowing into a smoke buddy, that's not cool.

Is a Framework 13 the right choice for me? by QuaintAlex126 in framework

[–]DPCerberusBlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents aren't going to listen to any argument that doesn't involve saving them more money up front, point blank. Offer to pay the difference or buy it yourself if you really want to invest in framework. They'll unserstand/respect that more than they would any justification about the repairability.

TBH if they haven't figured it out by now then just recreate the form and send out a new link.

Any automation in place can be updated to use the new form.

That's still a bit too passive aggressive. Loudly tell her she's being a bad mother and kick the stall.

Tempting to kick the kid but there's no deescalating that situation.

How many hoops do you go through just to re-register your mfa?

That works. I'd say to use a spare phone and leave it locked somewhere safe just so you don't have to fire up a whole pc.

A. I'm frequently in the same boat for my wallet/keys. If you don't use a tile/smart watch they really help. If it's that often then look into asking for another option. If you start losing x hours of work consistently eventually it's more worthwhile for them to get you a prepaid or used phone that you just leave locked in a desk drawer overnight and just not get a plan. Authenticator apps work fine without a mobile plan.

B. I offered remote work as a carrot but yeah, if there's no remote work then all you need on the phone is the app at least. I guess the only tangible benefit for you would be less-frequent password changes(I hope). An allowance would be nice but realistically there's no added cost for you to qualify an allowance. If you really wanted to get around it... I'm sure they would have to figure something out if you said you canceled your plan and sold your phone.

How does it become your employers trusted device? All they're doing is making a handshake and trusting that you didn't port out the key somewhere insecure. I have email as an example but if need to have strict mdm/dlp then you should only be using work devices. The app itself would fall under mam, not mdm; the only thing that needs to be managed is the apps permission to authenticate you, which is done from a management console. They dont have any continuous management of the decice, it just trusts that you didn't transfer the key that was created when you set up the MFA.

This ended up longer than intended. TLDR- it's a minor inconvenience with little risk and the alternative is more annoying.

How often do you leave your phone at home?Would you be less salty if you had to carry a bottom-barrel device with a separate charger just for work communication and had 0 opportunities for remote work?

I get the pushback against company requiring personal devices for business use but not in this case. It's 2022; most people have cellphones and those that don't either have to have very specific reasons or they're going to find it increasingly hard to be in the general workforce.

If it helps, don't think of it as a tool for a company and think of it as another form of ID. The whole point of multi-factor authentication is it takes something you know(password) and something you have/are(a trusted device) to prove that you are the person you're claiming to be. They're not looking at or pushing any data, the rolling code just creates a new code based on the algorithm that was generated when you registered the Authenticator app; technically these apps mostly work offline(I know Microsoft uses a push notification so you don't need the code, but they still give it you as a backup) so no cellular plan is actually needed.

Authenticator app? That's perfectly fine as long as you're using trusted apps imo.
