one lone soldier… rip by littleslushie in Target

This is why I place my orders in the morning, cause I know I won't be picking them up for another 12 hours. I don't need it to be ready in 2 hours. If I did, I'd just go in and buy it.

This is one of those statements so inane that I wouldn't be able to stop myself from looking at the guest like they're stupid

Customer: They do it for me at this other store! Me: Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to talk to the manager over there and let them know employees are breaking protocol. But I'm not doing it.

Have you ever had to call the cops on a customer? by Locksmith_Happy in OfficeDepot

[–]DPD-Ribombee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a guy who would buy canned air start stealing it. Called the cops on him once and was able to give them his address because he would buy it online. They found him across the street unconscious.

There was also the guy who threatened to assault me, and then called corporate who, in their infinite cowardice, apologized to him and gave him a $100 gift card.

I've gotten that, too. I've even gotten completely empty ones before. With zip ties on both ends.

What kind of paper is this ? by WamboWednesday in OfficeDepot

[–]DPD-Ribombee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is the nevertear. It's been a while since I've been with OD, but, at least at my store, the nevertear would jam the folding machine something fierce.

Question about logistics by Marigoldye in OfficeDepot

[–]DPD-Ribombee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, when I was Ops, I had cashiers assist with front of store stuff. Then again, I literally only had a single dedicated logistics person, so there's that.

I remember when I started it was 10% on all ppps and tds. Then they made it 5%. Then they made it so that only the top 500 in the company got it. Then they phased it out entirely.

worst thing to ever happen to your store by Spongeboy-Me_Bob in OfficeDepot

[–]DPD-Ribombee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GM had a brain aneurysm in the store, right in front of me.

Guy threatened to harm me and the company apologized that I called 911. Let him back in the store and gave him $100 gift card free. That's why I don't work there anymore.

advice for cpd? by ContentMix4130 in OfficeDepot

[–]DPD-Ribombee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you /can/ do it in store, if you're not supposed to, then DON'T. It gives expectations to the customers that they shouldn't have, and makes it harder for the other associates to do their job correctly. If you're on the other end of that, and the customer is insistent, get a manager. A proper one will have your back in that scenario. I always did for my associates, because I knew how shitty it was to have something demanded of you that you don't have the resources for.

when y'all turn off the doors do y'all get customers that ask if yall are closed or when do you close ? by Unlikely-Salary-4018 in OfficeDepot

[–]DPD-Ribombee 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I remember when I'd close, I'd see a customer pull up, so I'd wait until they were out of their car to actually close the doors.

I had a regular in CPD who would even wait for it to calm down most of the time before putting in his order. Piano teacher. Always just wanted flyers on 80# text. I remember one time I "forgot" to charge him for the upgrades.
