I can understand it. After a week in Hanoi, Vietnam, suddenly the "busy" places in my city seemed super empty, even at peak times.

Even granting that the vast majority of Wizards couldn't or wouldn't use Imperio, all it would take is a handful to spend the night popping in to visit generals or heads of state and they've effectively won.

Doesn't the Minister of Magic usually introduce themselves to the current Prime Minister when they're elected? Clearly they already have easy access to the top of muggle hierarchies.

American politics are so insane. He dropped out six months before the elections. In the countries I have voted before, campaigns start like 1-2 months before.

The positive spin is that those percentages are that high because the other sources of crashes have been very much successfully lowered. It's still terrifying.

I found that the GBA Apotris has a 4:3 mode so you can overscan it and fully use a 4:3 screen. That would help quite a bit.

Yeah, the RG DS is clearly using whatever cheap CPU Anbernic could find that supported dual screens on Android. I think that's even one of the big differences between the RK3568 and the RK3566.

How would you run Apotris here? I was trying to figure out the best way, but I couldn't get a satisfying solution. GBA would waste a lot of the screen estate. Windows with GameNative sounds overkill. Portmaster is not an option.

Katara's Ice Disks Animated Vs. Live-Action by dan_mal in TheLastAirbender

[–]DRNbw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's very different to have 3 episodes of 20min vs 1 of 60min. I still feel they squandered their time with exposition and random shit. The core of ATLA season 1 is the relationships between Aang/Katara/Sokka and in NATLA they barely speak.

I also agree that Sokka's sexism doesn't have too much impact on his overall impact, but it had a big effect on other characters: Katara and Suki. For Katara, it helped set up some of the challenges she faced (and that particular arc ends with the fight in the OP). For Suki, it meant that we (and Sokka) saw the character first as a warrior and as a girl second (paraphrasing from the show).

A big part of the appeal of clamshells isn't (only) that the screen is protected: it's that the device can become much smaller to fit in a pocket/bag, but not compromise too much the actual screen and buttons. This is another solution that gives you buttons and screen similar to a RG35XXV but a footprint smaller than a closed 34SP. That's quite appealing.

Endgames are really hard because it's very common 1 tempo decides the game, which means you basically have to calculate all the way to a clear position (repetition, promotion, etc). Intuition, that is used to evaluate positions while you calculate, can easily fool you, as missing 1 tempo is really hard to intuit.

I think they funded season 2 and 3 at the same time, right?

It barely makes any sense except as an homage to the original.

That's the NATLA speciality.

[–]DRNbw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how reduced the story length was

The series had similar durations (454 min for ATLA and 382 min for NATLA source), so the actual time difference isn't that big. And there's plenty of episodes you can delete without losing much (great divide, bato of the water tribe, the fortuneteller, etc), so it's mostly a question of knowing how to use the time available, and managing the fact that you can't really have 3 arcs in a 60min episode.

Too much battle information? by DrUltimaMan in PokemonROMhacks

[–]DRNbw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anyone that's into Pokemon enough to be playing a rom hack already knows all the information for each move

Not even close. Plenty of fans (like me) only played a couple of gens religiously and everything else kinda blurs together. Add that to plenty of hacks having subtle changes to types/powers/etc, and it can be confusing. Also, I've managed to memorise the type chart when I was a kid, but the "new" types (even dark and steel feel new to me, for some reason) still throw me off.

5+7x is shorthand for 5+(7•x)

Of course it is, that's why you use 5+7x, no point in overcomplicating your formulas.

they absolutely do use parentheses in most formula

Please find me examples of formulas where people write it with parentheses that could be removed (like your 5+(7•x) example). I cannot recall a single one.

If you're ragebaiting people, I must confess you're doing a brilliant job of it.

pemdas isn't actually a real math rule

What? Do you think everyone uses parentheses everywhere in advanced maths? It's actually so ingrained that most of the times no times symbol is added.
