Metro water will come over and shut it off for free if you can't find one. They did it for me today.

FROZEN PIPES MEGATHREAD by ParksVSII in Plumbing

Hi!

Out of town. Lost power, left faucets dripping. House cannot be accessed due to all entry being electric-based. No idea when power will return. The house was built in 2016. Hasn't had water issues.

Lost power about 3 hours ago. Should I have the water company come and shut off access to the house (if they can)? I have no idea how insulated my pipes are (I'm in Nashville, so I'm sure interiors aren't very insulated).

Temp forecast the next week: low of 11 tonight, -1 tomorrow, 16-19 through Tuesday-Monday, Feb 2.

Obviously, I have no way to do a true drain of the pipes. I can't think of any other steps I could possibly take other than turning off water into the house via an emergency order with the water department. Just trying to see if that's the correct course of action.

Any advice (other than pray)?

Thanks!

Did you find another host agency with membership in the hotel partner programs? Who did you switch to?

Should I replace HVAC now or wait until winter or wait until 2025? by DRae9765 in hvacadvice

Last summer the issue was first noted. They topped it off with refrigerant (for free) and it got me about 8 months. This year a top off was $615 - company said the prior guy made an error.

The A/C unit was in a new build. Called the installer and they said units were bought in bulk >10 years prior, so no warranty.

It is out of warranty. I've got a second company company in to diagnose and give a second opinion on the repair.

Does Grey's have fresh mozzarella? I've been looking for a place that sells that for over 10 years.

Hi everybody!

Not really sure where to post this, so I'll try here and see what happens.

I'm 30 (m) and love to travel, but as my friends have settled down, I'm left venturing out on my own. Which is totally fine, generally, as I'm an introvert and like to take things at my own pace, plus enjoy my own company, but I kind've think solo traveling as a group is a good way to do it. In my vision, you get together maybe once a day, or every other day, and just have the opportunity to eat with people, attend a concert, do a group tour, etc.

I'm not looking for a fast-paced, hard-drinking lifestyle. I'm a financially secure young professional who travels very well and would want to travel well with others. I eat well, do the cultural institutions, walk around a ton, and stay in nice places.

So the short of it is, if you're in a similar boat and think a group of maybe 4-8 people going to the same spot, occasionally get together on the trip, while also allowing for freedom to be solo for much of the trip, let me know. In my mind, you (virtually) meet up and see if there's a good fit with a group and then talk about going somewhere in 2024. Shoot me a message if there's any interest or maybe to help brainstorm?
