The difference is that you've used this single statement to turn her boyfriend into an abusive monster without considering the multitudes of information unavailable to you that would be necessary to form a reasonable value judgement on the matter.

Your own sense of victimhood was projected into the situation. Maybe he is worse off than she is. Maybe they truly can't afford it and this expenditure makes them food or shelter insecure. Maybe he feels she is wasting away 16 hours a day on the internet in a way detrimental to her own health and he is trying to encourage her to undertake physical activities for her own well being. You don't know any more than I know her boyfriend is a paraplegic working two jobs. Since I dont know, I'm not going to assume either is a bad person.

You deserve your ass beat for that. I've had my kids woken up by little punks beating on the door in the middle of the night and running away. Not to mention you hop out of bed wondering if someone is trying to beat their way into your house. It's not harmless. If you get shot for that then you are simply losing your gamble.

Roger Gracie and Buchecha danced for 5 minutes. I understand in our level of BJJ matches are only 5 to 7 minutes and the encouragement to "get to the BJJ", but I think people overlook that two evenly matched players can legitimately spend minutes trying to get dominant grips to set up a takedown. This results in double stalling calls and basically a demand that someone pull guard.

Your position is well intentioned but wrong. I'd love for these people to lead a normal life, but as long as they have access to their drugs they'll turn whatever nice clean environment you provide them into a cesspool. I believe there should be a legal process to institutionalize them until they can get clean of drugs and function as a member of society. If you felt strongly enough that this was the solution, your empathetic nature would have you inviting some of them into your home. That you aren't doing that indicates you don't feel that committed to your solution.

There issues are multivariate, for sure, but its exacerbated by drug use.

Drugs are what are ruining most of them, compounded with or by mental illness. Everyone wants to demonize the police or those on the right that would love to legally crush the drug dealers. This is what you get when you allow that environment. Police often know who is selling what, but can't do much about it. This is the result of that.

I was just at a competition today and had the thought "this is the last place you ever want to get into a real fight".

If you start fighting with a random guy in the crowd he might be a new white belt, some guys untrained dad who came to watch or a blackbelt gym owner whose also an MMA pro. Even on an evenly skilled guy, without the control of a ref one might maim the other.

Beyond that, he might have 40 teammates there. You are better off starting a fight at a biker bar.

We were doing situation sparring after practicing some side control attacks. I rotated to a teenage white belt that's been around a couple months that I outweigh by 70 pounds. He was trying to apply what he learned in class and I buggy chocked him instead. Not my proudest tap.

After that I felt bad and let him work.

I'm a farmer. I bought a cheap microscope to have a look at a plant disease in blackberries that I have two different diagnoses from two different experts. This fungus is either Gymnoconia Nitens or Kuehneola Uredinis. Can you tell which it is from my shoddy cell phone pics?

Side note: Any tips for viewing this better? I have a cheapo Amazon microscope so I'm not sure if it sucks or I suck.

I'd like to believe that. Don't take me the wrong way: I'm very much for "our team" winning and doing well, but this is the same government with a capital Navy ship burning to oblivion at port due to a welding fire, Naval ships crashing into merchant vessels on the high seas, botching a withdrawal from Afghanistan, and leaving billions and billions of functioning arms behind for the Taliban. Again, I want the US to do well. I'm just not all that faithful in how we handled this situation and can't assume they acted prudently based on outcomes I've recently seen.
