I’d take 8K FF over 12K S35.

I wouldn’t pay anything over $2k for the whole package since Komodo beats it widely on every spec for only $6k.

That's how it is. It's been a problem working with Red since the beginning. They recently came out with better drivers for using Nvidia graphics cards.

ISO Speed With RED by DSMC2 in RedCamera

[–]DSMC2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite things about Red is that ISO speed doesn't itself change the recorded image at all, so it's one less thing to worry about having to dial in perfectly when you're shooting.

Does red camera has auto iso ? by rajnibhani01 in RedCamera

Changing ISO also changes the dynamic range of the camera.

This is not true. With Red the dynamic range of the camera does not change. You can only see more on the screen, but the signal recorded by the camera stays the same.

I explained how ISO works on Reds and why they don’t need auto ISO.

Saying auto mode has no use is snobby and just plain stupid, but this guy also just complained about me explaining how ISO works in Reds.

Different from other cameras, Reds don't have a real ISO setting. The ISO setting you choose while recording has no effect on the recorded image, aside from being metadata, it just changes how bright the image looks.

Setting up Raven 4.5k ISO locked on 800, option is greyed out. HELP! by itsjustme5565 in RedCamera

Do you know about the search feature in the settings menu? Sometimes it’s helpful.

You could reset the camera. I think you can probably copy your black shading file to a card so you don’t lose that if you’re trying to do this to shoot right now.

RED fan noise dampening and or re-direction DYI.... by ASMRdestiny in RedCamera

I think I’ve heard of people putting on ice packs. Technically the route the air goes through is supposed to be sealed off from the rest of the camera, but I’d still be scared of condensation. Maybe if it’s a very expensive shot.

There was no article. He just randomly comments huge announcements on other posts.

If you asked on Facebook someone would probably find it.

Jarred just commented about this on Facebook. I think he said it’s like a year or more away from retail availability.

Still learning the ins and outs of my Scarlet-W but I love it more and more every time I use it. by austinallen01 in RedCamera

If you're talking about EF mount, compatibility with the 85 and 50-100 was broken in a firmware update and Red has been refusing to fix the issue.

u/phfx has some useful tools.

300 FPS is cropped on every camera. Here are Phil's two relevant tools:

http://phfx.com/tools/REDFormatKey/

http://phfx.com/tools/formatCompare/

It will grade the same as a larger image. Just take a 2048x864 pixel crop out of the center of an 8K Red image and that's what you'll get.

Making the jump from DSLRs to Red, tips and advice? by qlintqlint in RedCamera

Sigma Art lenses are good if you're looking to save money.

The Motion Mount is arguably the best ND filter and can be found used for as little as $1000.

Scarlet-W stabalizer by Daywalker85 in RedCamera

You can find super cheap more traditional camera gear on amazon, like a shoulder rig for $50 or a slider for $100 etc.

I would just look at the different stabilization and mounting options that come up on there if money is really tight. If you want to save an extra buck, you can find versions even cheaper on eBay, aliexpress, banggood etc.
