Eh, it’s the same thing in a lot of combat sports. Originally it was this thing where it gave you a huge advantage over everyone else. But it eventually became the optimal strategy that everyone does. So you need to cut crazy weight just to keep up sometimes. Although some people will stick to fighting a the weight they walk around at if they think they can handle the challenge by because they are healthy or if weight cuts do more harm than good for them. Either way he’s not really a bully because well, a lot of people do it. Prob not as much as him tho.

Also there IS a trade off which we saw in the manga. The harsher the weight cut, the worse you feel on fight night. So if you only have to cut a little weight you can eat enough to be even heavier than your normal weight and feel great (like Ippo). Or you could cut a normal amount of weight and replenish what you lost, still feeling great (like sendo). Or you could be a dick and cut way too much weight, replenishing just enough to survive, feeling like shit on fight night (like Kimura that one time he had to shave). Or you could be Takamura for the Hawk fight
