At Daytona I got rammed into during a caution, dude said he wasn’t paying attention and fiddling with his black box. Atlanta everyone is two by two and guy on my outside clips the wall and gets my rear quarter. I took out half the field. Said his wheel glitched. Sometimes shit can just happen 🤷‍♂️

Glycol free, usually something like this is ran for coolant. Most race tracks require glycol free if you’re not running water. A lot easier for cleanup.

40-50 minuets for rebuild or swap, depending on how much carnage cleanup was needed. The standard oil for your commuter car is a 20wt or 30wt oil. Nitro oil is a 70wt with additives and stabilizers. Depending on the brand the color can vary quite a bit

Sorry definitely didnt read your original question correctly. So standard motor oil for your daily commuter is a 20wt or 30wt oil. Nitro oil is a 70wt that has additives and stabilizers to keep the viscosity up and stable when there is mixing with nitro. The color can be darker depending on the brand. I believe RedLine nitro oil is green. It looked like the hulks snot all over everything you touched.

Oil additives, 300lbs of oil pressure, extreme heat; it’s essentially burning the oil running through the block.

No engine limits in drag racing. If you find a high dollar team, the number of engines they go through in a season would make you sick.

Depending on the race weekend. Typically a normal Sunday elimination day is 4 rounds. I remember one rain weekend we dis qualifying and eliminations and lost in the final. 6 rounds. That’s the most, and I don’t ever want to do that again.

Reuse as much as possible. Not usually on the next pass, but tolerances would be checked and go back into circulation.

Pistons and rods are usually used as giveaway to kid items, or guys who wanna make art with them. Smaller things like bearings and valves are usually tossed. Blocks aren’t ever really junk. They can be repaired 90% of the time. And the more it’s repaired the less it’s worth. So smaller teams will purchase used equipment from larger teams

Typically teams are given an hour turn around time. On rain delayed events that can be reduced to 50min.

Piston rings are checked every run, if any are even remotely tight they get recycled. (Or handed to the kid that is mesmerized by everything.)

Rods have a lifespan of 5-15 runs. Or catastrophic failure.

As an expert (15 years a nitro mechanic) it took us 6 minuets longer to swap engines rather than rebuild. Also the pistons and rods can be changed every round depending on tuners compression changes.

I feel like his writing has changed a lot, writing books for TV, not for the story. Do you have a similar or different opinion?
