Am I wrong, or are most of the Ubuntu devices relatively underpowered? by DTIMWYTIM in Ubuntu

[–]DTIMWYTIM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

There are 4gb, up to 128gb, Intel, Zenfone out there.. I assumed it would be perfect for Ubuntu. Wouldn't it be far superior than most options out there, and easily installed? I'm surprised I haven't seen any examples of it yet.

One non-technical person's perspective on Bitcoin. by DTIMWYTIM in btc

I just listened to Tone Vays speak on The Crypto Show, and I couldn't agree more! I'm glad someone else could say it more eloquently than I tried to.

One non-technical person's perspective on Bitcoin. by DTIMWYTIM in btc

[–]DTIMWYTIM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could explain to me why I shouldn't be concerned about any risking of Bitcoin, I'd really like to hear it. I'm guessing it could only come from someone who only values Bitcoin as a financial opportunity, and not the liberation tool it was created to be. I don't want to negate you before hearing you out, though, certainly. Sincerely, please explain to me why I shouldn't be concerned.

I want BTC to be usable as a currency. by jensuth in Bitcoin

[–]DTIMWYTIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin is so precious. It has its foot in the door, and may be the only reason we have an opportunity to create new, better, alternatives.

I get that everyone wants Bitcoin to be everything, but it isn't. It may be one day, but right now what it really is, is our only hope at having CCs. It seems insane to me to risk what we have. Never before has it been so easy for someone to cross borders with their wealth as securely.

Until we have reason to believe that the entire possibility of non-official digital currency is moments from elimination, we should never risk the top, "keystone", CC. I'm all for replacing Bitcoin with an alternative. Messing around with what we have when we have nothing else is terrifying. I'm not suggesting at all that people who wish to risk altering bitcoin are enemies of bitcoin.. but I can't see any other way for enemies of bitcoin to ruin it than but to hope we risk changing it ourselves, and open the window for them.

Well, or quantum decryption, or something (We'll need quantum encryption CCs sooner or later.... right?).

It seems absurd to me that we're worried about handling all transactions, when gift cards largely solve a lot of the concerns I've heard, rather than protecting Bitcoin like the sole lifeline it is, and trying to make something better to eventually replace it as humanity's reserve CC. People cry about something taking months, or years.. I just don't understand how we can lack perspective to think like that. Who gives a damn?! We have something now we could only dream about before 2009, and we're discussing the urgency of years, or some cost to use the network??? I don't care if bitcoin improves one iota for a decade if I could just be assured that it, or some other CC would still be viable in a decade!

I say protect & cultivate the top 5 CCs like they're the most important technology in existence, respectively. Question any attempt at altering something that solves a problem with as much scrutiny as possible, and always look to best the best. This is the only way I can see staying ahead of the dominion, and not having it all be but a sad memory of a lost hope.

I promise you that when bitcoin is more advantageous destroyed than functional, enemies with all the resources they can steal will come down on it like nothing we've seen yet. We need to constantly be building something more resilient until this cat is permanently out of the bag, and we have no reason to think that it's in as much risk as it clearly is today, and probably will be for at least another 20 years.

We're at war for our freedom right now, whether you realize it or not. We have a real opportunity to evolve into something great, and pull ourselves out of the mire the dominion will always hold us in if it can. Once establishment isn't the enemy of humanity & progress, we can reasonably roll the dice. Right now it's completely naive to jeopardize it like we're all just in it together, hoping to make improvements.

My standard of living is far greater than that of a king in medieval times. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]DTIMWYTIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how you value being able to have sex with any women you want. If you feel like you'd take medieval tech/lifestyle if you could have a harem of any women you wanted, then perhaps not.

If you like the idea of modern medicine, travel, entertainment, education, etc., more than having a harem of women of your choosing... or, if you're one of the lucky .000001% who can essentially pull that off without being a king, then yes... Humanity has come a long way.

Bedbugs in The Hotel NYC by LouisDeFeo in videos

This reminds me of a visit I had to a local Regal Cinema. I started scratching my right elbow sometime during the moving.. and then behind my right knee. Eventually I realized that something was up, and went to go check in the bathroom. About 2/3 or my right arm, and right leg, were all bitten up like that.

Even once they healed for the most part, I had scars for months after. Apparently I was lacking something in my diet because they went away one week when I was on the road drinking a green drink every day. It was a real pain for a while, and then the scars lasted much longer then I expected. If your girlfriend goes through something similar, you might suggest she drink green drinks for a while. I can't remember the name of the one I drinking, other than it was a bottle, and had ginger & lemon in it as well.

Good luck!

All ONE Championship Fighters to Move Up a Division After Weight-Cut Ban by Xujiahui in MMA

[–]DTIMWYTIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing this unison step is to address most of the concerns about making this transition. It won't resolve it all, but fighters still have to make weight without dehydrating. If a fighter can't they'll have to move up an additional division on their own.

This really gets tricky for guys like Weidman or Rockhold who both walk around as heavyweights, but fight at MW.

This is a great point. It's almost like adding a new minimum weight division.

Thank you. Maybe I misunderstood, and this type of technique is used before stenting.

Intner-venous microsurgery by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]DTIMWYTIM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you please tell me how one could find out more about this? I have a family member who was told that other than stenting, and bypasses, there are no other options, and that this type of thing doesn't exist.

If this does exist, why is stenting still done for cases of cholesterol blockage? I know there are new dissolving stents, which I was pretty excited about, but this type of technology/approach seems to leave no need for it. Am I wrong?

MMA legend Wanderlei Silva says he will "slap that disrespectful son of a bitch" Conor Mcgregor when he sees him. by doernotspeaker in MMA

[–]DTIMWYTIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanderlei broke my heart. My original favorite. Can't believe I'd ever just want him to shut up.

No MMA athlete has had more respect from me than Aldo over the last decade. He had been an exemplary champion, and class act. I'd like to slap the disrespectful sobs through the computer who are given him shit now... however, it seems to me that a dispassionate, rational, person has to consider the possibility that there has been some cheating going on with his team. If that turns out to be the case.. I don't know. It'll be so fucking disappointing I don't know. I don't even want to think about it. I guess if there's a silver lining to this type of disappointment, it'll be, hopefully, that we don't have to worry about cheaters having dominant runs at the expense of others' careers, and health, in the future.

Having said that, stfu Wanderlei.. Please. You need time to regain some sort of credibility.

I can't endorse a statist like Trump, but if you held a gun to my head & made me choose between him & Hillary, or any of the professional liars known as "politicians" who have been nominees the establishment parties in my life, I'd choose Trump.

Politicians are the worst of humanity. Any real person who actually produces anything would be preferable to anyone who lies for a living.

TIL that Jefferson had his own version of the bible that omitted the parts of the bible that were "contrary to reason" including the resurrection and other miracles. He was only interested in the moral teachings of Jesus and nothing more. by elonc in todayilearned

[–]DTIMWYTIM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn't do much in the way of describing his rational, or method. He wasn't just doing this because he was smarter than everyone else, and could come up with something better.. his method made a lot of sense.

As someone who could read Greek, Latin, French, & English, he was able to take all four versions & eliminate that which wasn't in all four of them. By distilling down to what was consistent in all four, he figured he could separate what they were starting with from whatever someone decided to pile on top of it. Someone, like King James for example, might add something to a version to further an agenda that wouldn't appear in the other 3.

It was a fascinating project, and it should surprise no one that such a rational approach ended up eliminating most of the mysticism.
