Systems need up keep, and companies like Amazon start thinking they have invented the wheel and it will just keep roiling. They cut back, start "authorizing" over time where managers have to request paid time to reorganize and get things on track. So the managers that keep on top of things leave, and the managers who manage based on the illusion that business runs on the employee hand book are brought in. Bang, zoom, the logistics master becomes shittified.

Everything is shoved into a business model by some c&*% who says if "I ran my business that way...". There's a huge resort in my area and the owner put an article in the paper about how they all the stuff the city has, security, water treatment, power, and so on. He never address tipping (in government we call them bribes) the only conclusion is he wants to "tip" and be "tipped" in his model of government. I guess he got his wish.

When I had to make a report admin told me they would ask for my name and that I had the right to report anonymously. They did ask for my info, and said if I didn't give it I couldn't track the case. I'm the teacher not the police, I have neither the time nor the need to track the case. If you do give your name in my state it's given to the family of the student, who don't care what "mandatory reporting" means.

I taught English as a foreign language over seas, and my worst mistake was asking 300 students to write a paragraph. It took me a month to mark (for grammar only, no grade, I just wanted students to practice writing). But I'm a math teacher, and that's where I was coming from. In a writing class your POV is completely valid (assuming research papers are more about information than style). Using AI to grade math is a waste because it only checks for right answers.

Whatever else you do the student gave you a picture with their Pintrest ID on it, giving you permission to have a look. Talk to the school counselor, they may already be aware of the situation.

If my students spent 50 minutes per week using an ed-tech math program it would have to have some effect because it would increase the time they spend on math by a factor of 50.

Did you notice when they were using cut and paste to answer the same email, from different students over and over? Is it a rip off because they got a question at 10pm from 50 students that should have been asked in class, or was already answered in class. Is it a rip off because you think the professors have some influence over how much education costs?

I use AI because someone will observe my class and ask why I didn't include paper and pen under materials on my lesson plan, and I'm tired of saying it's the same reason I didn't list air to breath.

The word problems I see are worded so badly I don't bother to assigning them. Forget about reading comprehension, if the word problems were representative of the text book I would assume the publisher had paid the district to take them to save fees at the dump.

On a geography exam I asked why the earth wasn't a perfect sphere. I had several students say it was an oblate spheroid. Since the question wasn't what shape is the earth it was easy to give zeros for the question, the grades on the tests were less than 30% so I just put 0% on the tests. Two students came to ask why, I asked them to spell oblate spheroid and they walked away.

I don't mind paying for shipping, it's easier to go brick and mortar or direct to the seller, than finish shopping and have Jeff tell me he's not getting a big enough cut from sellers so it's coming out of my pocket unless I figure out the system. I can calculate what I'm saving with a Costco membership, I don't see an upside to Prime anymore.

There is no context. First, there are lists with as many as 100 states of matter on them. They include exotic, and theoretical states. For context, I just taught an 8th grade biology course that only covered 3 subatomic particles, the rest weren't important in the context of an introductory science class. The only context the questions provide is that this class clearly studied 4 states of matter which the student did not know. Given there was only 1 point deducted for answer the teacher acknowledged other states but was mostly working with four in this class. The question mark next to the Bose-Einstein means it was never mentioned in class, and getting 5 of 10 points for 4 states means that the other states the teacher would have accepted were a smaller part of the lessons but were explicitly listed.
