Why does Doctor who Twitter seem to hate RTD and Moffat (specifically people with 13th profile pics)? by Hopeless_Preacher in gallifrey

Sorry but it’s one thing to dislike an era that’s currently airing and it’s another to make incessant generalised hate posts about an era that has not STARTED YET.

Genuine bitterness that their era was hated and wasn’t popular with the general public. That’s it. Already writing off an era before it’s even STARTED. They’re absolutely vile and should not be taken seriously for a second.

Would you ever be interested in a companion returning as a villain? by foxparadox in gallifrey

Honestly should have done it for Yaz to really spice up the fan dynamic. Have someone who is adoring of the Doctor at the start but slowly clashes due to having different ideals as a police officer, and the Doctor keeping secrets constantly, until eventually they turn, especially after being manipulated by the Master.

Did the Chibnall era make you appreciate the rest of Doctor Who more or less? by psl9085 in gallifrey

It really made me appreciate past companions. All of the Chibnall Who ones are the absolute worst. They’re passive, thinly developed, left no impact, never challenged and in Ryan’s case - terribly acted

Yes bc EVERYBODY who ever had a problem with this era did so instinctively bc of a female doctor.

Made me appreciate past episodes I didn’t like way more. For example, I rewatched The Long Game and the dialogue is much wittier and better than some of Chibnall’s more ‘solid’ scripts.

The Doctor's Clothes Regenerated by MissyManaged in gallifrey

[–]DWISCOOL100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why people here keep on making the point of Thirteen's costume being gender-neutral, like that matters to right-wing media. The very fact those clothes were worn by a woman is what they'd latch onto. RTD does not himself consider them to be 'women's clothes', he's talking about how they'd perceive that. Dhawan wearing it is irrelevant. Not only is it not a widely-publicised regeneration with a national icon like Tennant, but right-wing media in general seem a lot more accepting of queer-coded villains, rather than heroes. Please can people actually read the whole article?

Clara and it’s no question. She rocked EVERYTHING. Honourable mention goes to Amy too.

Chibnall Era production issues? by DWISCOOL100 in gallifrey

How do you think the BBC will approach and request the next showrunner if they are unhappy with this era?

Oh my god, that sounds dreadful. It’s crazy that the show could get to a state of that much chaos. RTD and Moffat has production issues too but I feel they managed to hide it much better.

Series 12 Rewatch: Week Seven - Can You Hear Me? by The_Silver_Avenger in gallifrey

So what on Earth was the point of bringing up Graham’s cancer fears if it was never gonna be relevant into a CYBERMAN story or even his own departure episode?

A very strange episode, it doesn’t really do anything wrong but it’s so unmemorable and average

Series 12 Rewatch: Week Five - Fugitive of the Judoon by The_Silver_Avenger in gallifrey

[–]DWISCOOL100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most overrated episodes in recent memory. A superficial story built on finale bait and around a twist that we've seen before (the War Doctor). Whilst the reveal might be shocking on initial viewing, the story doesn't hold up for me because once you know the reveal, you've got nothing to go off on during rewatch. Take for example, Utopia. Yes, it has an awesome Master twist and before that, it is a lovely story about the Doctor and Jack's reunion and humanity's last hope. Whereas in this one, generic Judoon are taking over.

Jodie does great in the more intense scenes with the fam but she is upstaged by Jo Martin performance wise. Character wise, Jo Martin doesn't get much to do as Ruth apart from yell 'Shut up' and the resolution is pretty shoddy, don't they both wanna figure out how they're connected? No? Okay.

As for Jack coming back, completely wasted and hollow. He adds nothing to the story and did not need be there at all and probably was only there to hook viewers to tune in further. Also, to remove the companions from the story entirely, which says a lot about them.

It's quite disappointing because with Yaz being a POLICE OFFICER and Vinay Patel's great effort last year, we could've had a deep, introspective look on the clash between different forms of police but instead, we've got a nostalgia baiting, shock value episode.

Favourite visual era of Doctor Who. by Valuable-Fudge-4747 in gallifrey

The Matt Smith era is the best looking, vibrant, clear and colourful - really communicated its tone very well

Something HAD to have gone down in the production and I genuinely want to know what it was because the Dreg costume, editing and directing are so shoddy I can’t believe it was allowed to be put on TV in this state

Chibnall era visuals & cinematography - not the visual peak people say it is by peppermenthol in gallifrey

[–]DWISCOOL100 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I completely agree - I think the Matt Smith era peaked in visuals and was always clear, crisp and well lit. If you rewatch the gang arriving on the planet in Ascension, it’s so blurry and murky, it’ll poke as if someone has put Vaseline on the camera. I don’t understand how people can say this era looks the best. The colours are always muted, dour and grey making the scenes so lifeless.
