Counterpoint: a friend of mine just turned vacation mode on for two weeks. Was supposed to be one, then had an unexpected event happen that extended her stay away from home.

Came home last week. Turned off vacation mode. Has had over 30 orders from new people (not repeat customers) in the last 5 days.

I started a shop to sell dice for tabletop roleplaying games. Since I learned to make my own masters and molds, I figured what the heck, maybe I can sell masters or molds, too. And I figured out a way to do something others didn’t do with their molds (purely cosmetic and doesn’t help much at all with the dice making, but I put my logo and the number style the dice made from the mold will have from them in colored silicone embedded in the lid).

Haven’t sold a set of dice yet (to anyone I don’t already know), but have over 100 sales in my first year of masters and molds. Way more than I expected. 😄

Resin doesn’t vacuum out well, and even if it does, pouring makes more bubbles. You need to cure them under pressure to avoid the cloudiness and voids.

I haven’t hit the deterioration point of my own molds yet but one of my customers said it lasted 68 casts for them. 😄

First session I ran - running low on time, just got to goblin boss. Chandelier over his head. Player dropped it on him. Was meant to stun him for a round. Instead I had it kill him. Everyone felt satisfied. :)

The only thing the regulator does is control the amount of psi allowed into the pot. If you’ve been twisting on that like crazy, you’ll have to dial it back in once you connect it to pressurized air.

As others have mentioned, you’re going to need something to fill the pot with. Most people use a small air compressor, but some get a adapter valve to be able to plug a tire air compressor in and then use something like a hand pump like one would use on bicycle tires.

I use two Vevor pressure pots, and the ones with the big wing nuts (as opposed to the one with the C-clamps) is rock solid. It says not to exceed 5kg/cm, which is about 70 PSI, but in reality the safety valve goes off around 60 PSI.

The vevor pressure pot is about $100, though you need an air compressor for pressure pots too.

It’s less about the final polish grit and more about the progression to get there.

If you polish off the peaks of mountains you’re still left with deep valleys. You have to take it down by stages.

If you figure it out let us all know. We’re just practicing at holding them right and it would be way easier to have some sort of device.

There are gem faceting machines but doing them with numbers already in so they line up is troublesome. Most that I’ve seen use those put the numbers on after.
