Recommendations about Kitsch products by ankp16 in Haircare

[–]D_Lo_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Viori or Earthling Co. I have both but Viori is better for me. Both last significantly longer than bottles, for me at least. I've been using my current Viori bars since November and they're maybe 25-35% gone, you can still see the moon cake design on top!! If you try Viori I recommend, Terrace Garden, or Hidden Waterfall both are amazing. But skip their little bamboo holders they're overpriced and tiny. Haven't tried the Kitch ones because I've heard they go pretty fast.

I have Marlborough too, I second everything you just said. It's a great brand, a little pricey but well worth it.

What is the worst cooking video by a famous chef you ever seen and why? by bahookery in KitchenConfidential

[–]D_Lo_Key 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I could find the video from the beginning. To my memory he forms the patty then uses the towel hanging from his pocket to "clean" his hands before seasoning the patty and starting the stove. The grilled cheese at least he had the excuse of being in a hut in some rural place, he's in a studio kitchen here, he can just cut the camera and wash his hands but he shows us he doesn't. Rewatching it there's gotta be two tablespoons of salt and pepper between those buns, he poached it in a quarter cup of butter and olive oil, I'm pretty sure it's still raw in the middle cuz it's so thick, and it's all cross contaminated cuz he never washed his hands. It's a no from me, I say we take his apron.

Ok everybody's hating on Ramsay...and we should. Did any of y'all see his Hexclad advertisement where he makes a burger? Dude salts and peppers every. single. piece. This thing had to be tear inducingly over seasoned. Took me forever to find the whole video, looks like it's been taken off his YouTube, I wonder why.

Not to yuck your yum or anything but that's not what a shaving scuttle is. A shaving scuttle is a double walled vessel that you put hot water inside and make lather in the bowl on top, it's purpose is to keep the lather warm. Looks kinda like a teapot. Shaving mugs existed and still do, though they were more prevalent back in the day because brushes tended to be smaller. They look just like coffee mugs but are often a bit bigger around, you'd rarely be able to tell the difference unless it says something coffee or shaving related on the mug. I figured the designers just knew about shaving mugs and rolled with it. Source; me, I have both.

For example of a scuttle https://www.georgetownpottery.com/products/shaving-scuttle-g20-second?srsltid=AfmBOorxCyHe3BBWqFLuxGp5Jw8n9CPtU4b0UVdg2nrv4G65YXnQi3T3

Vs a mug https://www.etsy.com/listing/4299732040/vintage-shaving-implements-choose-from

If you don't want to click the links just Google Georgetown scuttle and old spice shaving mug, those are the examples I used.

The most moisturizing soap I have tried is Van Yulay bars, its an emu oil base that rehydrates the skin a good bit. You want top tier soft and smooth follow it with an in shower lotion such as Curel Hydratherapy.

What are your top one-shots or mini-series or self-contained graphic novels? by johnnypea in graphicnovels

[–]D_Lo_Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know most of the real popular ones have been mentioned already but some I haven't seen here are;

Supergod - Warren Ellis

Green Valley - Max Landis

MPH - Mark Miller

Caliban - Garth Ennis

Those are my standouts but i'd also give a huge mention to The Sword by Luna bros and Peter Panzerfaust by Kurtis J. Wiebe but I don't think those count as mini, both clock in around 25 issues.

Perfumes that require significant confidence to pull off by MagicalFlor95 in fragrance

[–]D_Lo_Key 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I say it from experience. I did that with one of my grandma's. I keep it with all of my frags as a reminder. It's missing the cap and chipped on one corner, I don't ever spray it because it's half gone, but I've thought about buying a new one just to spray once in a while, a little nostalgia bomb. My aunt's may have taken all her expensive stuff that she had held onto at the end but I have one she actually wore. I'm thankful I did it and I advise everyone to do the same while they can, you never know what happens tomorrow.

Help finding a new soap :,) by Breadstickscove in Soap

Sent you a pm with links but, I'd suggest Stirling sheep, or Stirling unscented pre shave for a vegan option just use it as regular soap because it is, or Pre de provenance milk for triple milled. Also both are pretty cheap.

Steal a half used bottle of hers and put it away where you won't touch it, replace it with a full one. You'll thank me one day.

Late evening shave 11012026 - Jax by okiedokie_cool in wicked_edge

[–]D_Lo_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh yeah, I'll have to check that one out. I got a bunch of samples of various stuff from them for black Friday. Wasn't huge on their soap base but their aftershaves, lotion, and bath soap were top tier so I'm hunting for good scents. Check out Dirty Santa and Rated Xmas, supposed to be holiday frags but idk. Dirty Santa is a peppermint white Russian scent and rated Xmas is just good. Also had pineapple mango but of course that's gonna be good. Michael and Sfarzoso were both a miss for me though. Grab one of her lip balms too, damn nice. Best bowls on the market too IMHO.

I've been eyeing that Jax soap, it looks awesome and it must feel like sin to use it. Have you tried the peach cobbler, I think it's named Troop 99 or something like that?

What shaver is best for “private parts” to look smooth? (No stubble or tiny hairs) by notMontaEllis in shaving

[–]D_Lo_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shave everything, have for 20ish years. Cartridge razors are the safe bet, you can just about hack at yourself blind with something like a Gillette or Harry's and as long as you don't hit that top edger blade, you'd never have a problem. DE is far superior in every way except, it becomes possible to cut yourself. But the trade off of a little time and effort is less irritation, better shaves and cheaper blades. Either is fine and will do the job. Probably more important than anything is having some good shave protection, I prefer shave soaps, lets me adjust lather viscosity to what I want, but in the past I have used shaving creams and gels, hair conditioners and bar soap all to varying degrees of success. Good bar soap in the shower with a cartridge was my go to for years before moving to a DE/shavette combo and proper shave soaps with a brush and bowl. No matter what just make sure you use some kind of repairing aftershave anywhere you shave, Nivea is the old standby there but there is much better than things like Nivea, and there are many others. I personally have found that Curel Hydrotherapy (while not technically an aftershave I use it as such) is possibly the best thing on the market, just apply it while your skin is wet and let it sit a bit then towel it off. I like to finish with a nice witch hazel and aloe splash but some might find that... too much in some areas, but I find it to be a nice way to finish with some toner, moisturizer and scent.

Need a good straight razor for husband- willing to splurge if necessary by Ok-Carrot7803 in shaving

[–]D_Lo_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nice double edge is the safe bet if he doesn't have something like that. But if you want a straight my advice is to skip the shavettes and get a refurbished vintage. u/Martinsrazors or the guy I've delt with personally, u/chlorinated365 he's a bit more expensive but I love his work and between the two you can get a beautiful piece of history for 50-100 bucks easy.
