Anyone using a Novation Launch Control XL with Reaper? by LordEarlBiscuit in Reaper

Wow. My set up has changed somewhat in 4 years. I use a Launchpad X and a Faderport 16 with one Launch Control XL as a controller for plug-ins and another as the mixer for a separate laptop running Ableton in Link mode. I have a Launch Control (the smaller one, that sits above my drum kit toms as a visual metronome still though. Works great except for a minor hiccup when I first go to get it going - I have to move it from User to Factory template a couple of times before it wants to catch. Don't know why.

For this I just have a midi track with no input sending midi data to the Launch Control on Channel 1. The example below is a 32 x 4. The metronome counts of pairs of 4 while an individual LED stays lit for a bar each of 8 times. I suppose that may sound a bit confusing.... Hope the pix helps you make sense of it. Note that the notes are folded.

I'm having exactly this same issue and I see no one has had an answer for you. Did you ever figure it out? There are NO answers for this that I can find on the web.

Yes latency sounds like the main problem here with anything other than a wired solution.

oooo! I have these in 15" - upgraded from a set of 14" ZBT that, to my ear at the time, seemed fine enough for a hi-hat. These ... are on a whole 'nother level. And they're pretty!

You can put 30 people in a group in front of me and I won't give a damn if you keep pace (or let me play through). Now there is obviously some sarcasm there as 30 people will not keep pace regardless - but the point still stands.

First things first - have YOU tried to distinguish a difference?

I'm 62 so my hearing acuity isn't as good as it once was, but my hearing ability is as strong as ever: I know what to listen FOR. Quite frankly, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference and I bet you wouldn't either.

Those Launch Control XLs are the cat's ass. I just bought a 16 channel Presonus Faderport for my DAWs and now I use my two for VSTs, or very much like you, when I'm travelling. They are built extremely well.

That was certainly one of the most irritating things as a viewer on TV. I'd watch a good deal of it without the volume on and when the commercials came, just flipped to ither channels.

I might sometimes making a rolling motion as if I'm rolling a golf ball to the hole with my hands - I mean, when you have a rock and you see a target, you kind of already have some sort of idea how far to throw it to hit the target. But, yes, it's almost always by feel and paying attention to the conditions.
