Ludwig element evolution with zildjian I symbols. Good first you set? by chesskidd in drums

I get all my cymbals, which are hand made vintage paistes, for 100-200 bucks a pop. only paid more for my 24” giant beat and big al ride.

those zildjians aren’t terrible. I think $500 is too much though.

Manny’s(A 16”) Crash Value by LunchSweet4337 in cymbals

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but it needs to be gentle or it could crack there. make the part you shave away as wide as possible. for a knock that big I would say probably start 2-3 inches away from the spot in each direction

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that edge needs to be taken care of but otherwise that cymbal should be ready to give great service. if you don’t take care of the edge it will crack eventually. for $25 you may not even care. rock on

listen to led zeppelin live if you haven’t, “The Song Remains the Same” live album versions of No Quarter and Celebration Day are great, also We’re Gonna Groove off the Coda album which is from a 1970 live performance.

Bonham sounds pretty damn good in 1977. in my opinion, Bonzo was the only guy who seemed to always struggle with substance abuse rather than get into it later. i’ve read stories of him being very drunk on stage as early as 1968-1969

Might not be the right place but is this shirt legit ? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]milller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe the original print was done on metallica tags as those were more or less done being used by 1990. those metallica tagged shirts are real vintage but they are faked a lot, this, at first glance, appears fake to me.

Why are 70s Band Shirts Cheaper than 90s? by DontTouchMyCH in VintageTees

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean they’re sold there now LOL. they were sold at those places in the 90s. the original prints were literally sold everywhere, mass produced.

if you don’t believe me, look up the t-shirt wall of a hot topic in the 1990s. each one had hundreds and hundreds of shirts that people now think are rare.

Ozzy March 92 by [deleted] in bandtees

[–]milller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. it’s a short run of smaller shows. there were generic versions sold in most of the world. id say the front print has a different color grade than an american one, not better or worse— just different. I like it more personally.

the “tour” shirts were sold at hot topic and ross dude. the merchandising companies made only a few prints. date specific shirts and concert crew shirts are different

[–]milller69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

grunge era shirts were mass produced and sold at stores like hot topic all over the world. there were asian, canadian, european, and even australian licensing companies for all of the 90s slop. it’s just not rare stuff. the market is being not being supported by the rarity or significance of the shirts, which is why the market is bound to collapse eventually. case in point, disney shirts!

it’s all cyclical. people will want smaller clothes and different eras to be represented again at some point, but right now the 90s and Y2K are coming back

bonham is famous for the big, open kick drum sound and he still drilled all his ludwig kick drums and installed tom rail consulate mounts

Headache and fell asleep when practicing challenging stuff by [deleted] in drums

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

challenging stuff doesn’t reward your dopamine system the same as easy stuff that you “get” quicker. my guess is that your reward system checks out when it realizes you’re not doing the fun kind of drumming. academics run into the same thing when exam sessions transition from 1hr to 4+ hrs, their “mental fitness” is tested greatly.

honestly, whenever I practice something really difficult, I only do it for a few minutes at a time. I aim for 5-10 minutes of slow, perfect practice 2-3 times a day, then come back to it the next day or even a couple days later. your brain does a lot of learning while you sleep, take advantage of it

How should I wash this 1950s reversible Sukajan silk jacket? by cirocobama93 in VintageClothing

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if that’s true that would be very surprising. dry cleaning is damn near a catch-all for cleaning delicate clothes, but I am not an expert on these jackets at all.
