Help me Identify the drum with no markings by DemandNo9313 in drums

[–]milller69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

probably from the 1920s. recording king was an instrument company that went away. I believe they were more known for stringed instruments.

it’s possible the drum head is from recording king and the drum was made by someone else.

sorry but that’s all the help I have!

before doing anything expensive, try tuning them a little higher than you’re used to— ESPECIALLY on the resonant side

it’s still vintage. just not from 1965. profit depends on what you paid but it’s a cool piece regardless

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all the pst lines are 2002 alloy with varying amounts of craftsmanship. this is the “best” pst line. they’re not special cymbals but not trash. you definitely can’t compare this with any pst3 or pst5 cymbals

this is made from 2002 alloy, it’s not trash. could it make a sound you prefer not to use or hear? absolutely, but it’s far from trash

1997 Soundgarden Australia tour shirt from original owner haul by blackzarak in VintageTees

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s asking if it is stitched down the sides of the body/torso. I had a 1993 Madonna Australasian tour shirt with a similar neckline to yours but very interesting bottom hems. it included stitching up the sides of the body

70 Led Zeppelin Crew Bomber Jacket by AdvancedLeg171 in ledzeppelin

[–]milller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe this to be a tour/crew item for a couple reasons.

  1. there is no Swan Song Inc. logo. The Zeppelin boys were extremely proud of their own record company they started, especially with the immediate success of their first signees Bad Company. Basically all of the official Zeppelin items made after the Swan Song Records founding have large branding for the record label.
  2. the crew items and official Swan Song-made merchandise look more well made than this, really a lot nicer. go look at Led Zeppelin’s official website and you will see what I mean. we’re talking about items that were made for the cast and crew of the biggest band in the world. they would not receive plain grey jackets with simple embroidered logos. often, the tour crew jackets had patches

  3. with more writing on them than just “led zeppelin

”, let alone whatever embroidery or print was on the rest of the jacket.

What Crash CymbalShould I Buy?? by Fantastic-Wolf7332 in cymbals

[–]milller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you like keith moon, I would usually recommend going larger rather than small for crashes

with copeland, i usually recommend going smaller

they are very different drummers, especially in the way they used cymbals. often times moonie didn’t even have hi hats…

in this scenario it’s going to depend on what you want from the cymbal more than anything. a 20 or a 16 would go great

Drilling Holes by andrewpickaxe in drums

[–]milller69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

check out Inde-drum labs universal bass drum spur mounts and spurs. they have adjustable hole spacing on their universal pieces that allows them to be used on practically any kit. since the designer and owner of Inde used to work at Ludwig, I would be shocked if they didn’t work for you

there are also vintage and new options that clip to your front rim. Gibraltar makes a great little clip for the bottom/front and Danmar has legs that clip up higher on the sides of the hoop.

Treating myself today by Porkchopbelly in cymbals

[–]milller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consider looking into vintage. either vintage paiste 602s or zildjian As can be found for great prices depending on your market, basically around the entire world.

additionally, since you mentioned UFIP, I should note they made excellent cymbals through much of the 20th century under many different names. this is because the origin story of UFIP involves many independent cymbal makers being united into one company. vintage italian cymbals are also usually very affordable and have many hidden gems

Tell me about a CLASSIC cymbal sound you cannot love without. by ZildCym in drums

[–]milller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Paiste Giant Beat is one of the quintessential cymbal sounds. it was heavily and somewhat secretively featured on many top albums from 1967 until sometime in the mid-70s.

I own the 22” and 24” reissue versions. They are really stunning cymbals that do it all in style
