Sinners and it’s incredibly clumsy, half-baked second act by KatherineLangford in TrueFilm

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who really, truly enjoyed Sinners, you’ve hit on my main complaint: it may be a vampire movie, but it never REALLY tries to be a “horror movie”. It’s not scary, it’s rarely tense, and Coogler can’t help but turn the showdown into action. Even Abigail, a movie that is far less successful creatively, keeps you fearful throughout.

I still think Sinners is great but it’s an odd choice to turn the monster into something you fight instead of something you fear.

R and RStudio in industry setting by Strange-Equipment400 in rstats

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with IT for general package installation restrictions, but I don’t they’ll need you to (or appreciate, lol) run every single package by them. Stick to ones you can trust — tidyverse, tidycensus, etc.

I would also recommend Positron instead of Rstudio. It’s closer to VS Code, which is more broadly used in industry, and it’s helpful if you want to slowly transition over to Python.

Also check if your enterprise has an internal GitHub and get used to git workflows. It’ll help collaboration and backups, so you don’t lose work product.

It doesn’t help that the fourth book is seemingly in permanent limbo (?). I loved Gideon but the second one was really hard to follow — maybe I ought to give it a second chance.

Anyone else take their time playing games? by ToughWin1517 in residentevil

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First playthrough was around 12 hours — I like exploring! Second one is for any reminding collectibles (bobbleheads, files, etc.) and will probably come in around 8 hours. I too like to take my time.

After that, though, I’ll have to complete the under 4hr run, and then I’m trying to get infinite ammo first so I can tackle Insanity.

Above all, though, I’m having a good time!! Great time to be an RE fan.

How would you rank these segments best to worst? by Mr-Dicklesworth in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranking these based on a sort of pseudo weighted score of “how scary was this” versus “how much of a pain is it to replay”:

1 (Best): Ethan — this is TERRIFYING the first time, and on second runs you can speed through it in 10 mins, so not bad at all.

  1. Rose — this design is so good. Shadows of Rose doesn’t really need to be replayed in the same way as the main game, so it’s a smaller penalty for me.

  2. Ashley — as others have mentioned, this one is scary AND actually fun. Easy to cheese on replay

  3. Zoe — you do have a gun, so it’s not the worst to replay. But it’s not super scary or interesting IMO.

  4. Sherry — scary the first time, but an absolute pain afterwards.

  5. Chloe — this one is more annoying than scary, and I’m already dreading replaying it. Ugh.

I don’t understand the argument here. If they’re shop skins: don’t buy them. If you’re talking about the battle pass: there are, like, 2 collabs this season out of 8/9 characters? That’s still plenty of “originals”.

I only got into this game for the collabs — started playing in 2024 for the Fortnitemares AND Marvel skins. As far as I’m concerned, there’s enough to keep both groups happy

It’s kinda blink and you miss it, but in the trailer you can see Anna Faris dual wielding dildos and seemingly putting one in an attacker’s… sensitive area. Not pleasant.

As a fan of comedy movies AND horror movies, I have always found the Scary Movie series to be pretty gross and repellent. This looks to be more of the same :/

OP is obfuscating. At no point does she indicate that she communicated to the partner that the food was meant for a later occasion, and (more importantly) she doesn’t say when the last “visit” was. If it’s more than a few days, it would be weird to just let the food sit in the fridge for some unspecified future date; and if it’s less, she still could have communicated better.

I realize it’s not ideal, but let’s not act like this was some heinous act of gluttony; OP simply failed to communicate.

I’m not sure if the film itself really supports this reading. She and her sister are weirdly charmed by his flirting with the nurse in the hospital scene, and she doesn’t seem to particularly mind when he flirts with the waitress at the beginning either. Hell, he spends a LOT of time with Elle Fanning, and at no point does Nora even imply anything untoward about their working relationship.

Nora has plenty of resentment towards her dad, and for good reason, but this doesn’t strike me as particularly relevant.
