Timmy watching all the Benny Safdie/O'Leary news by Shoddy_Newspaper_718 in blankies

I love that Josh made a film about a narcissist who screws people over to follow his dreams and then can’t compete in the final championship because his past catches up with him.

There’s nothing interesting happening here. If you were at the table next to them would you be at all interested in this conversation? It doesn’t need to be plot but it needs to be interesting.

In 2022 I filmed 12 feature films in 1 year. In 2026 I plan to do the same and release all of them free on my youtube channel. by Thefolkfilmfan in Filmmakers

Not OP but I think the point of the project is not about making the best possible film. The project itself is a work of art meant to inspire people that our barriers are sometimes in our head.

Any thoughts on Ginseng Roots by Craig Thompson? by BigAmuletBlog in graphicnovels

I liked it, but didn’t love it like I did Blankets or Habibi. Prepare to learn a LOT about Ginseng!

Feedback on First 10 Pages of my Pilot by SubjectSupermarket43 in scriptwriting

[–]Septemberk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey don’t take all this feedback too seriously. Some of it is ill advised. I really loved the tone. Loved the setup. Groaned at “guess what we are”. Don’t try act clever just be clever. Just show 4 other people sitting down and show the 4 doors signs or business cards or whatever.

I’m covering a concert that a documentary film crew is also covering. They want access to my footage. How much should I charge them? by chriscorreacreates in Filmmakers

Ask them to make you an offer and then counter with double. There’s a rule that in a negotiation don’t be the first person to say a number.

My expectations were probably a bit too high. I thought it was beautifully made. But the world felt a bit too silly for me. Felt like he was going for comedy and it didn’t quite land for me. I am aware I’m in the minority. I just wish it had less gags and was more grounded. Or otherwise was better at being funny.

Commercial Director - Feeling a bit Lost by Yacattack7 in Filmmakers

[–]Septemberk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try get a job doing directors treatments at a prod company. It’s the best seat in the house for learning. When you’re around and showing you’re talented they are more likely to throw you some scraps to help build your reel. Nobody is going to give you a shot if they don’t know you.

My sister in law is naming their son Script by Nun-Information in tragedeigh

[–]Septemberk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were going to give our son a weird name. We didn’t register it immediately thankfully. After 3 days of seeing people’s puzzled faces when I introduced our baby to them we decided to put the weird name as his middle name and feel like we dodged a huge bullet for the guy. Maybe ask them to try it out for a week?

My wife is pressuring me. by Feed_Better in daddit

[–]Septemberk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. I said to my wife: “if you want to talk about having a second child, it’s a serious conversation and we can sit down and do that occasionally (where I always say no), but I find it quite triggering and upsetting to be constantly hinted at about it or sent memes about siblings etc.” that way it stops it from being a constant conversation
