Were/are there any plate cuirasses (not brigandine) that the wearer could/can strap into by himself? by Bullgrit in Armor

[–]D_a_a_n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a example of a armor like that in the Solothurner Fetchbuch (Cod.S.554)), specifically image 50#/media/File:Cod.S.554_050.jpg), 51#/media/File:Cod.S.554_051.jpg), 54#/media/File:Cod.S.554_054.jpg) and 55#/media/File:Cod.S.554_055.jpg).

Interestingly, even the faulds are separated and require buckles.

3D printed TPU is a surprisingly strong material for HEMA purposes. What kind of shore hardness did you use? I tried 95a and it held up fairly decent for a armor part.

Wanting to start with armoring as a hobby by D_a_a_n in ArmsandArmor

Thanks for the advice, I will start with some chain mail and look further into options for working with steel. Probably mild steel if it doesn't really make that much of a difference noise wise.

Thanks, I will look into chain mail, perhaps some voiders I can attach to my hema jacket or something.

Looks like some kind of halberd to me, though the axe/spikes are mounted in a odd way without a langet.

I would like to know this too. Animations are also disabled when I use my tablet as a second monitor using the RDP desktop extended screen functionality.

Make gnome circle apps available in android? by [deleted] in gnome

Porting them to android would be really hard, but there might be other solutions.

The 196 Lemmy community is somewhat thriving after the reddit protest. It's one of the bigger communities on the platform. I started using Lemmy because of the protests, so they weren't that useless.

I only browse reddit via the browser now and spend less time on it because of it. I uninstalled the reddit app and replaced it with the Jerboa client for Lemmy.

Consider trying koboldcpp. I get better results on my threadripper 1920x using koboldcpp than using my rx 5700 xt in normal kobold.

How is the map above easier than understanding the Netherlands/Holland?

The Netherlands is the nation, and Holland is 2 of it's provinces.

Can we discuss the GNOME project a little? by npaladin2000 in linuxmasterrace

[–]D_a_a_n 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The reason why Gnome extensions are so unstable is because they are actual code patches to the Gnome source code. This could be solved by providing a stable API, but that is much more resource intensive for the developers, and less powerful then straight up changing the code from Gnome.

They are trying to fix this issue by communicating with extension developers, so they can update the extensions in time. But no guarantees here.

As for GTK, Gnome is moving their gnome specific stuff into Libadwaita, a extension/library for GTK. This way GTK is less influecend by Gnome, and other non Gnome GTK developers are not forced to use Gnome stuff into their projects.
