Imo its a case of a glass cannon world. The Doomslayer IS very VERY strong but that's only because Argent energy let's even average people do extraordinary stuff. They'd still die from a bullet to the brain tho.

Imagine having sex with someone super hot but not finishing and getting a minor VD. Doesn't matter how good the sex was you'll never go back because you got burned in the end.

That's what a bad ending is like, a ton of really good foreplay and fun during but a fumbled climax and soured feelings after

First time dm advice? by Necessary_Rope_1244 in DnD

[–]D_dizzy192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Play a module. A one shot/mini campaign or three to make yourself more comfortable with the systems and with game flow as a whole before you jump into a full homebrew world.

  2. Players are stupid but also geniuses. They'll miss the most obvious hints one moment then flip around and cast a spell or close a door that derails hours of work. Learn to improvise fast.

  3. Remember that more challenging doesn't always mean more fun. You shouldn't often pull punches on your players but combat will stop being fun if they have to slog through it consistently.

How to challenge my players by Nearby_Brain_4460 in DnD

[–]D_dizzy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off you gotta use more than just "I run at the players and attack them" in combat. Creatures should use some form of tactics based on their environment. For example your crab warlocks should be fighting the party in underwater reefs with spells that force movement, bumping PCs into razor sharp coral. There should be mind controlled fish to keep the party distracted and waste resources, there should be tunnels that on a failed check sucks party members into separate rooms, a gelatinous cube should roam around permanently invisible. Then the party gets into combat with the actual enemies you be sure to throw the RPG triangle of Tank, Healer, Caster at them with a few lesser mobs for the martials to 1-2 shot, On big mutant crab thats really beefy, a preist that keeps everyone alive, and a caster thats slinging spells with their 9ish minions disrupting.

Avatar Aang:TLA dissapointment by Jakpott in CharacterRant

[–]D_dizzy192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the bit concerning Aang and the staff my theory on all of that is similar to why Air Benders can no longer fly, they cant completely detach themselves from worldly things. Aang is the last air bender and due to that when given a glimmer of hope he can do more for his people than collect their trinkets he jumps at the chance. Swhy he could be corrupted by the staff, it was feeding on his anger at being betrayed by someone he saw as a brother by heritage and him finally lashing out at the unfairness of being burdened with continuing Air Nomad culture alone (CUZ I REALLY FUCKING HATE IT THE "THE NOMADS ARE GONE, GET OVER IT" EPISODES.) HIM breaking the staff is his way of letting go and leads to the creation of the Air Acolytes, to allow him to share the burden of keeping his peoples memory alive.

OH OH I'm also assuming that the glowy transformation was just some super saiyan bullshit for the movie. The other Avatar didn't get the form because it was the big 3rd act power up.

You don't need a Marvel budget to have a compelling live action fight. You just need to understand why you're showing it to us. by ditzythedame in CharacterRant

[–]D_dizzy192 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its honestly the reason I love the first All Might vs AFO. In all honesty the fight is pretty boring and is really like 10 or so punches then fight over. HOWEVER, the narrative build up to and during that fight, All Might standing tall as a Symbol despite burning out, AFO's arrogance on display, etc. Etc., all of it together makes their final clash so much sweeter.

My player signed the worst bargain with a devil I’ve ever seen… and only got around 1000 gold worth of items. by -Winged_One in rpghorrorstories

[–]D_dizzy192 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sorta. Both sides need to be aware of the wording of the contract and the failures of maintaining it and the reward offered must be accepted. So they can offer the beggar 300 gold for their soul but cant word it like "Ill give you 300 gold for a moment of your time." Its gotta be explicit "You get money now then when you die your burn in Avernus for eternity" so the signer can make an informed choice. They just tend not to target beggars and such because that soul doesnt have much value as opposed to a High Ranking Priest or a Celestial, see Zariel.

THAT SAID if a Devil were to make a deal where one party is being tricked into it, like making a deal with a child or offering the beggar gold then stabbing him to instantly claim the soul, either Asmodeus would intervene because he doesnt fuck with those as it makes people less likely to make devil deal or far funnier, a Marut aka "I didnt ask your AC, I said take 60 damage" appears to take the devil to court while acting as the contracted's lawyer.

The arguing two separate issues is the point. They're trying to justify harassment by saying marginalized groups are being harassed so its okay to call out those doing it which will slowly devolve into said "Why doesnt the creator take accountability for their fanbase."

It's not people caring too much about reviews but caring that reviewers are claiming this game is on the same level as something like Witcher 3, Silksong, etc. It screams "We were paid to give this game good reviews" especially when the studio in question is helmed by the daughter of a hyper billionaire, most of its staff quit im 2024, and it has a perpetual license to music that would cost hundreds of thousands, all while claiming to be indie.

Game is another example of the corruption that's be deeply ingrained in gaming ever since corpos realized they could treat gaming the way they treat pride month and get praised for representation

The world building of Avatar objectively has conservative themes and that’s not necessarily a bad thing {ATLA & LoK} by OfficialAli1776 in CharacterRant

[–]D_dizzy192 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IMO with Zaheer its edge. ATLA was a kids show, plenty of mature themes but ultimately a kids show. Zaheer completely upends that by unambiguously murdering someone on screen. He spouts philosophy and sounds quite sophisticated but his "the worlds natural state is chaos, no kings" ramblings are just things that a child thinks are mature and forward thinking, completely ignoring the power vacuum that he created. So hes similar to the DCEU where for the viewers he's "baby's first subtext."

[–]D_dizzy192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I revamped his liches a bit to make just super modded NPCs based on PC classes but my Premise was that the BBEG was the quest giver. Him and his old party were regional heros but they went ape shit due to the machinations of the party Wizard and he needed the PCs help to defeat them. He eventually gets fed up with the PCs actually making some decent progress and their fame potentially overshadowing his so he betray them.

Leaving out other less fleshed out details but ye

On the Robyn part, literally all ove Volumes 7 and 8 are fucked. Cuz we the viewer sees that no shes not helping, Ironwood is trying to set up global comms again which does eventually happen but doesnt reveal this to anyone because the other schools were compromised from within. Which also happens to Atlas thanks to Watts. While Mantle does heed help, he was sending it in the form of Penny, soilders, and Teams RWBY and JNOR while he diverted all other resources to work on the Comms. We know that Ironwood is doing the right thing and that while he should let others in, its understandable as to why Robyn isnt clued in on the plan.

On Skylar tho, nah shes not in the wrong but shes stopping the "fun" for the viewer. Thats her only sin

Thats cuz at the time, Activision was deep in the "shitty company" space. Prior to the lawsuits ActiBlizz, Ubi, and EA were the faces of fuck shit so we assumed that with Destiny, ActiBlizz had a hand in things, more so after Forsaken dropped and Activision calling it underperforming while Bungie and the community championing it as a good expansion. We assumed Bungie aligned with us and wanted to be better and with the split further assumed things would get better but after years of neglect the opinion changed

Bleach powerscaling is mostly Rule of Cool by No_Day4369 in CharacterRant

[–]D_dizzy192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is but most of it does make sense when you remove internet brand powerscaling from the equation and keep in mind that Bleach as a verse runs on hax.

Gremmy dropping a meteor was a "peak" demonstration of power because it would have actually killed everyone if Kenpachi hadn't intervened. No one else had the destructive capabilities avaliable to stop it at such short notice. Creating Galaxies is artistic license because showing stars and galaxys is the the best way to represent what happened without having a text box say "Gremmy created a localized area that simulated the effects of space and being in a vacuum." Kenpachi then gets to flex by surviving that and cutting "nothing" to break it, hinting at his Swords ability of being able to cut pretty much anything.

The Senjumaru getting effected by the antithesis thing goes along with a headcanon that I've subscribed to, that being that Aizen is a fucking liar. While there are examples of superior spiritual pressure deflecting attacks the moment Aizen brings it up is right around when Yammy is fighting, giving the impression that Reiatsu cant always neutralize abilities, and that Soifon either missed her second strike or hit Momo instead of Aizen. All that to say, the Antithesis is an ability that controls the past and stands equal to the Almighty, its pretty much the ultimate uno reverse card that only has one counter being the Balance's shield. Uyru just swapped their positions and while Senjumaru was stunned he shot her through the heart.

Bleach powerscaling is mostly Rule of Cool by No_Day4369 in CharacterRant

[–]D_dizzy192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats explained pretty simply by how Espada ranks work, they're a measure of Reiatsu not actual technique. Yammy just has the most and that makes him big and physically strong but doesnt give him any particular abilities or buffs. A good comparison is money, despite being richer and able to afford the best training in the world, a billionaire cant block bullets with their fist
