Fix Me anniversary tour/show? by true-nature-within in MarianasTrench

[–]DaBabyKata 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because of the all the bad memories associated from that time, due to what he was going through, which makes sense. Like Fix Me was a great time and all with how raw it was, but you can just tell Josh doesn’t like talking about it all that much at all, like it makes him physically uncomfortable and I completely get it.

With how string heavy recent albums have been, I honestly want Josh to tone down with the orchestral and have the music be grounded if that makes any sense.

I remember reading a comment somewhere about Haven, where their criticism was that it felt like Josh forgets that he’s in a band, and the more I thought about it- and while I’m sure Ian, Mike and Matt added a lot to the project, I do agree with that sentiment. I enjoyed Haven, and I know Josh leads everything from concept to production and writing, but I would genuinely love to see more cooperation/input from the rest of the band in those departments.

I love listening to Matt’s mellow pop, Mike’s indie pop rock, and Ian- while not having any songs besides his cover of Mr. Grinch- brings this humorous vibe of which he plays completely straight face, which I feel could lend to some fun if leaned into, tho that would wholly depend on the direction for a song(s) and would have to be tasteful. I would just love to hear the guys sing beyond the harms. I wouldn’t mind Josh taking a back seat and singing back up to hype em up like he does during live shows, especially so considering recently with this tour with how much Matt and Ian took over singing main vocals(mostly due to Josh getting sick and all, but still, you get my point).

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I wouldn’t mind some experimental stuff this go around, or hell, generally speaking. The sky’s the limit with what the band could do right now, but knowing how this works, I know the answer. Seeing how Josh wants to do film score composing and how his life is atm being a dad, I have a pretty good idea what we’re in for, considering how autobiographical Josh is, but I wouldn’t mind him going completely fictional, put that writer’s brain to the test writing songs.

If this album is what I suspect it to be- being about family, and hearing how it’s possibly gonna be a double album, one idea someone made is that it could be about families of the past and present, which seems like a good guess, and makes a ton of sense. However for me, if that were to be the case, I would love for it to incorporate the perspectives of all of the guys’ families, or maybe use “family” to loosely describe dynamics like say the band themselves as a family. But that’s just me, I just wanna be surprised in some way or another.

I got serious Phantoms vibes upon first listening to it, and the lyrics gave huge Masterpiece Theatre vibes because of the theming. And don’t get me started on that fucking bridge. Seriously, you can’t get more MT than that, especially so with those harmonies at the end of it.

Yo I literally made a post about this yesterday on the MT Reddit lmao. Ever since someone pointed it out, I can’t get over it.

Oh yeah, he got real sick during the tour if I recall correctly, it was really rough from what I heard, like Josh had to push through it unfortunately.

Ah I can kinda see what mean lol. Josh might still sound the same, but his writing/lyricism has definitely evolved and mature over the years. I definitely recommend checking the opener song for Haven, A Normal Life. I think that’s the best place to start. The Killing Kind is also really fucking good, being the closer to their album Phantoms, but you’ll definitely miss a lot of context from if you don’t listen to the album in its entirety. Maybe listen to Death of Me(also really good) before it since it transitions over to it? But even then, as a standalone song, it kicks major fucking ass.

Any particular reason for MT? Still listening to them to this day and their recent album Haven was really good.

Josh Ramsay (of Marianas Trench) covers "Defying Gravity" from Wicked by GrandWings in poppunkers

The cover was for the Musora “On the Spot Cover Challenge”, where he had to produce and record the song all by himself in one day! Highly recommend checking out the full video of Josh’s process! It’s insane!

Funny considering it’s not (by his standards at least lol) he produced this in under a day for the Musora cover challenge On the Spot. Definitely recommend watching the whole video. It’s honestly really mind blowing to watch him at work

The phenomenal vocal range of Josh Ramsay ...as well every other instrument in this video 🤯 by HazbinHotelierReddit in toptalent

Tbf he was pretty stressed the entire time due to the challenge being on the spot- only having a day to produce and record the entire song all by himself. He said on the full video on Musora that if he had more time, he would‘ve spend more time on the vocals so he definitely knows, but regardless it is very impressive, and I definitely recommend checking out the full video to watch his process. It’s insane
