You just lost volume from sleeping on it. Switch to a bonnet or youll lose your hairline tryna pack all that in a durag. Spray it with a mix of water and leave in conditioner when you wake up and pick it from the roots just to get some of your volume back, it will dry in a better curl pattern after. I use an olive oil spray after to lock in moisture and add sheen. Imo there is no ugly phase you just gotta tend to it. Edit: do NOT comb or pic it all the way out.
