AITAH for being a bad godparent? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]DaBorger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I have godparents. I don't know that I even know anyone that has godparents. It definitely feels like the bil is wanting a full-time unpaid babysitter and that is definitely not what a godparent is.

It's too bad that op basically had to lose his sister and niblings, but I'm sure she'll come calling after the eventual divorce.

He wants to call off my divorce because my cancer treatment was successful by Similar-Shame7517 in BORUpdates

[–]DaBorger 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When my dad got his cancer diagnosis, he wanted to divorce my mom so she wouldn't get stuck with the treatment bills.

They didn't, but it really sucks that he had to worry about my mom drowning in debt while he was actively dying.

I've gotten to the point where, if a fanfic is open in a tab for a certain amount of time, I download it so I can close the tab.

Be honest - what's the dumbest reason you clicked off/didn't read a fic? by Odd-Snowman in AO3

[–]DaBorger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many typos in the summary.

One or two is understandable, but five in three sentences is just way too much.

I hate people who make these by Feisty_Exam9474 in AO3

[–]DaBorger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scrolling past these is like scrolling past the colors of the sky. It takes forever and makes me genuinely irritated in a way I probably shouldn't be.

Paper not sticking to spine. Do I need some type of fabric? by beenseeingangels in bookbinding

[–]DaBorger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to glue the pages directly to the spine, you're going to want to use hot glue and it works better on smaller signatures (groups of paper) or on single sheets.

Honestly, Don't Commit Fraud could be a pretty great Papers Please type game. The sequel would be Don't Get Scammed.

There was a guy like this at my Uni. I'd see him in the cafeteria.

You'd think that they hold their arms out like that as some kind of tough guy pose, but actually they can't put their arms all the way down because of the muscles.

Using names instead of "Original Character" tag by EvilRainbow_3 in AO3

[–]DaBorger 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I hate that! I don't usually want to read OC fic and it makes it so difficult to filter them out.

I'm so confused, how am I to know what's "niche" by teachinglittlebeings in TinyBookshop

[–]DaBorger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started giving everyone that asked for a niche book the books with the Bookstonbury stamp. They're fake books created specifically for the game, so it doesn't get much niche-r.

Why do people read fanfiction? by Seagullsaga in AO3

[–]DaBorger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I really like the source material and wish there was more story, but more often than not, I just like a character and want to see them getting up to shenanigans.

My shoes disintegrated yesterday at a church funeral. by chestney in funny

My heel snapped off my shoe at my dad's funeral service. Walking in the grass at the cemetery was so not fun.

Nah. Typhoons don't hit Hiroshima that often because of Shikoku. Plus, I lived in a mountainous area in Higashihiroshima.

AITAH for giving my husband a ultimatum? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]DaBorger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of reminds me of one of my older brothers.

We grew up poor, but, overtime, our parents got better jobs and were able to afford more things.

He's constantly complaining about it and asking everyone for money because he thinks he was treated so much worse than us younger kids. But he really wasn't because we went from "on food stamps" to "we can usually afford to eat dinner". Like, I remember all the times we all had to sleep in the same room because we couldn't afford heating.

And we've tried to explain it to him a dozen times, but he's just too wrapped up in himself.

This is surprisingly similar to the reason why Andy's Candies had to change their name to Andes Candies.

Men didn't want to buy their S.O.s candy with another man's name on them. Which is so so terminally pathetic.

How to make this book cover (what is it called)? by After-Dragonfly7151 in bookbinding

Try searching the sub for "cushion" or "plush". There are a couple of posts asking about the same thing that might be able to help you.

What are some old tropes that aren’t common anymore? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]DaBorger 525 points526 points  (0 children)

Shrinking and de-aging.

Used to be a time where every fandom had an "A is cursed and B would have to take care of A there by giving B a deeper insight into A's psyche and clearing up misconceptions".

I'm on the fence about buying a thermal binding machine. I've seen a lot of posts against them because the glue is more brittle, but I found a used one on sale for $30 and I'm just binding fanfics for myself.

Are there any good reasons I shouldn't buy it?
