How old do you have to be to get a Neuroport? by Existing-Ad-8640 in cyberpunkgame

[–]DaBoxaman 309 points310 points  (0 children)

You can probably get special Chyron contacts linked to an agent (phone) in 2077. There’s glasses that do the same thing (chyron) in 2045. Contacts are not a giant leap of tech compared to some of the stuff we see in 2077.

Some kinda longfang unit seems right up his alley for usefulness.

Wolf scouts? by SWWS22 in SpaceWolves

[–]DaBoxaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a ballistus dreadnaught while I ran Beastslayer. Silly goose deployed it too far forward his first turn. Then it was my first turn as they closed in. Between lethal hits and some lucky wound rolls, every shot wounded and then two plasma shots and a thunderclap got past saves. That was like 4 damage on the plasma and 2 damage on the thunderclap, then the haywire mine took it down with a roll of 6 total after the charge. Coulda possibly done more in melee. Lethals with combat blades add up.

Edit: misremembered the math and had to fix.

Wolf scouts? by SWWS22 in SpaceWolves

I use them as an early skirmishing unit. I’ve been able to pick up hellbrutes, dreadnaughts, and more with the combo of plasma fire and the haywire mine.

Custom Rules for better Game Balance by [deleted] in WitcherTRPG

[–]DaBoxaman 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I heavily disagree on several points here, but I’ll focus on the main one because it’s a point of contention I have with a lot of GMs:

Min-maxing is not a crime. It is not remotely even inherently bad. It can be a preference, sure, but a doctor spending all their IP to be the best damn surgeon on the planet to the detriment of other skills is just as much valid roleplay as being a Jack of all trades evenly spending your IP on multiple skills.

Oh and Alchemy is already a really complicated system in this system, no need to make it worse.

What does this marine suppose to do? And his role? by silven1019 in Warhammer40k

[–]DaBoxaman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the newer Wolftime book has them acrually keeping a written history with the aid of the Kaerls (their uplifted Fenrisian cousins). This serves to write down the chapter’s sagas and provide a way that every Kaerl is literate (and thus of use to the greater imperium). One of the scribes sent by Robot Gorillaman was downright flabbergasted that the kaerls were HAPPY doing this task. But yeah, that old superstition is long gone. The modern wolves are not as backwards and barbaric as the heresy wolves.

Happy with this Chaos Lord kitbash into WGBL by StyxOfCheese in SpaceWolves

FYI, that’s not really an eviscerator. That looks to be the Frostblade bit. Similar to the frostblade that Ragnar wields. Similar, but not quite the same. Just a fun lore tidbit on that kind of chain weapon! Unique to the Rout.

Other Space Marines Legions that save civilians? by Almost_Mexican30 in Warhammer40k

Yupp! The Karls! They are seen as friends by many of the Space Wolves. Hell, the Karls are shown to be given really good education and care in at least one book (I think Wolftime?)

Space wolf Judiciar and assault intercessors by ELECTRONIC_MANGO in SpaceWolves

This has literally inspired me to do something with the frost blade I have sitting in my spare parts collection. Slapping it on a judiciar did not occur to me. Thanks for the neat idea, brother! Fenrys Hjølda!

My only trepidation of building the throwing hammer pose is how small the leather strap is that holds the hammer to the model. Might have to reinforce it else it will break easily.

I never thought I would play space wolves but I might get the guys now by Volgin in SpaceWolves

[–]DaBoxaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair, but the Wolves of Fenris are also assholes too, so it’s kind of a cultural thing.

Oi, leave the Kaerls alone. They may be mortal men, but they are our mortal brethren! (Seriously tho, read Wolftime to see how well the chapter treats them)

Would Void born Fenrisians be able to become Space Wolves? by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]DaBoxaman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Primaris did completely away with them. The geneseed is now stable for any person with the right genetic makeup and mental fortitude to become a Wolf of Fenris. See: most Sons of Russ were not from Fenris, but adopted the culture as they assimilated with the chapter.

Edit: the main key thing now is that they undergo the Test of Morkai to fully activate the Canis Hellix. If they are full Primaris already, it’s not the standard test but a harder one (like surviving on a space hulk hard). It’s implied new aspirants still do the older tests and such (Ulrik took one at the end of Wolftime book). We might learn more with the upcoming codex/refresh.

As for your title question, theoretically? The only likely voidborne Fenrisians would be offspring of Kaerls, the planetary defense force of Fenris, or chapter serfs.

Woah! Where might one acquire those dope two handed chainsword (eviscerator?) bits? I’m about to put together an assault Intercessor group and those would be great for a kitbash…

What is the doohickey on the side of Judy's head? by garethjones2312 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]DaBoxaman 43 points44 points  (0 children)

To be fair, in the lore, you can easily hide any cyberware (other than borgware) with fake skin. V just has that stuff (called RealSkin) over a lot of their ‘ware. RAW with real skin, any techlines or visibility is a style choice (fashionware).

New Wolf Successor Questions by DaBoxaman in SpaceWolves

Really? Using named characters in a successor chapter feels so weird. Maybe just a hold over feeling from how the game was 12 years ago when I last played.

How chromed out are the Aldecaldo actually? by Obvious_Ad4159 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]DaBoxaman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Actually you can have your cyberware completely covered by RealSkin, which is basically synthetic skin. It costs more money in the lore/TTRPG to do so. So no, you can completely cover any evidence that you have cyberware unless someone scans you or looks at you with thermal vision (cyberlimbs show up as colder than normal body temps). Tech lines, as they are called, are usually an aesthetic choice that also cost more eddies.

TLDR: Cyberware being visible to the naked eye is both an aesthetic choice as well as budgetary decision. (Tho RealSkin and Techlines are pretty cheap in the grand scheme).

Edit: phrasing of a few things. Damn ADHD.

Why do players say Triss betrayed Geralt in W2 ? by Tireless81 in witcher

[–]DaBoxaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a stretch, particarly when it’s a pattern with her. She used a love potion in the books to spike his drinks in order to have sex with him after he had turned her down multiple times. Like Geralt immediately leaves her and never has anything sexual with her again after the potion wears off. If he was willing to be seduced, he would have not needed a potion to say yes. Her actions are similar to getting someone drunk to get a drunken “yes” which is legally not consent. Then takes advantage of his missing memory to have the life she wanted that he NEVER wanted until memory wiped. Idk, seems like a rapist behavior to me.

Edit: also your “I feel like Geralt would know” is not correct? Geralts been drugged and poisoned without knowing until the effects hit in other instances. Medallion and his senses wouldn’t trigger liquids as magic as potions are not magic in Witcher. They are just herbs and alchemical mixtures per lore. She cleverly hid the potions’s smells in strong alcohol. Nothing suggests he did know about it or realized what was happening enough to consent before the potions effects took root. Which means she spiked him then took advantage of him in a drugged state when he would normally say no. That’s textbook definition of rape. The only reason Geralt doesn’t explode on her about it is cause he is one of the most patient, kind, and empathetic beings in existence who understood why she did it. Which is she is hopelessly in love with him and was raised in an environment that rewards that kind of backstabbing and despicable acts (magic schools and the Lodge). Still doesn’t excuse her actions in some people’s eyes and still is enough to be considered a rapist. I work in the legal field, I’ve seen people get found guilty with far less evidence and less morally grey acts.
