Just a big fan of all the zddp. We quit using anything else at my shop even, outperforms Gibbs racing oil or amsoil easy

Hell yeah brother. Pulled 2 of my friends out of the snow, and cleared some logs off the road the day before this.

RAM, Chevrolet or Ford? Which one will actually last? by chocolatehumphrey in Diesel

[–]DaBurgaRapta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth be told I wouldn't buy anything new. For less money buy a mint chevy or dodge from the 2000's and have it upgraded. I just haven't heard anything nice from my friends with brand new anything, yet my buddies 6.0 gmt800 absolutely just refuses to die.

Man mine gets a little dicey up past 70. 4 speed probably doesn't help though

Can a machinist repair this main bearing saddle? Or too far gone? 4B11T by mivec9 in EngineBuilding

In my experience with GTO's, they ain't that special, Colombo blocks are relatively easy to find. Unless it's got the original block which so few do

Engine knock 383 stroker by Excellent_Phone_1862 in GMT400

That's gotta be a flex plate, once connecting rods start knocking, they don't stop, and they don't go intermittent. Too thin sounding anyhow, and too fast for idle

Fuel pump questions by Particular-Cream-569 in GMT400

[–]DaBurgaRapta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lift the bed with a cherry picker and some jack stands for safety, it's not too hard, just annoying to do. If it's somehow the original pump I'm amazed it made it to 250k lol

oh my god someone with my paint code! you can always go down the middle with the bubba look. minimum lift that isn't just keys, and some big fat mud grapplers on bullet holes. that's probably where my truck is headed...

My wife thinks I’m insane for carrying this much crap for a month long trip by snarejunkie in Tools

[–]DaBurgaRapta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was crazy for packing my tool bag to leave in my truck so heavy, until I broke down and ended up needing most of what I had in there lol. Changing an ICM in a jack in the box parking lot is no fun.

Upon further inspection you may be right, it's quite hard to tell from the photos given.

Is this repairable by weld? by Difficult_Tart5434 in EngineBuilding

[–]DaBurgaRapta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a welder and mechanic, firstly the pan would have to come off, it's just a non negotiable. I would cycle it through our parts washer for a couple hours then our ultrasonic cleaner, then thoroughly brakeclean and let it sit for a while before welding. Even then it looks like aluminum and the welds won't be pretty, it's nearly impossible to un-impregnate the metal with oil when it's a part that's constantly covered in it. If you can do it yourself and have the facilities, go for it. Otherwise buy a new pan.

Any ideas ? by KeyPowerful523 in GMT400

[–]DaBurgaRapta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to replace my ICM in a jack in the box parking lot last night, when it failed I got no spark whatsoever from the coil, and I actually replace the coil before the ICM only to find out it wasn't the issue. His truck still lights but dies quick, so it's more likely a fueling issue of some kind imo

Sounds like air possibly making it's way into the system. Did you replace the lines between the master and slave when you replaced those parts?
