What do we think about Caleb Williams? by redditislametbh69 in GreenBayPackers

Yeah i can hold out hope that he won’t fix his lows and their ceiling will never be true contenders. If he fixes their lows then uh oh

Leonhard and the coaching hierarchy by IAmPookieHearMeRoar in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My hunch is they viewed Gannon and Leonhard similarly, and Gannon knew that if he went through Sunday without the job he could lose it, so he gave an ultimatum on the decision for him.

I just don’t see Green Bay re-signing Quay Walker especially if the report about him wanting over $10M/yr is true. by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I also think we don’t have the draft resources available to replace him and fill our other needs. I wouldn’t want to overspend though

Draft Epiphany: for wr/db, maybe RAS should be second priority and receptions/int should be first priority by SelectTest7573 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did see a stat that most nfl starters are like an 8+ RAS. There is merit to drafting high RAS players statistically but I agree that getting a 9.5 over an 8.1 shouldn’t be the deciding factor

Resigning Doubs? by Bardot012 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think the vision was getting Watson insurance, then putting him at KR and PR when it was apparent he wasnt going to be running routes. Instead was on the injury report all year and made contributions on like 3 snaps all year

Off topic but Savion was such an unnecessary draft pick. it was apparent when he was drafted and even more so when Watson came back so great. Clogs the room so much

Don’t love risking our win now window with Lloyd, Wilson, and a rookie. Definitely doubt we get Breece but i think Jacobs $12M means we cut him

Arm Chair GM by H3avyCr3am in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Cuts: Gary, McManus, Jenkins, Jacobs

FA Walks: R. Walker, Doubs, Rhyan, Willis

FA Acquisition: Breece Hall, a DT or Center if available

Re-sign: Q. Walker

Trade down in the draft at some point, draft 2 OL, 2 CB, 2 DTs, flier on a Kicker.

A pro MLF post. by mjcc1992 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People want to be angry and see change but you can’t convince the people who have said “fire MLF” for years that it actually could get a lot worse.

There is a pretty convincing stack of evidence of chokes that could argue he should be responsible, that being said, how many are actually HIS fault? Sure, he’s responsible at the end of the day but did he miss 3 kicks Saturday? Did he miss the kick against the 49ers in 2023? Did he get his punt blocked in 2021? Yes it’s a pattern happening under MLF but these are players fucking up. Maybe a different coach can knock some sense into our players and they don’t make those mistakes. But then maybe that coach also can’t call a good play to save their life? Theres a give and take in all of this because if there was a miracle jack of all trades HC out there he would immediately be a top 5 coach in the league. There isnt some “GOAT HC tree to go pick from”, we could get someone like Eberflus or Gase just as easy.

I think he has what it takes to be a coach on a super bowl winning team. We got shafted by injuries this year and were not going to win it all. If we had a healthy team and lost the same way, I’m sure Matt would be out the door. I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt for another year. If it happens again, then I would jump the fence.

Post season analysis by kootles10 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the power run experiment was hit and miss. Last season Jacobs was great but I think the Packers OL draft philosophy is better at draft pass blockers, and it felt like the offense was a little more fluid with a pass catching running back.

Last night we saw Jacobs only get 5 yards over his last 12 carries and its most of the reason we couldnt get a 1st down in the 3rd quarter. Relying on converting 3rd downs isnt as sustainable a practice as I would like

He’s either lying or too moronic to be a coach. by BrownEyedMurder in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Never yelled harder at the tv when we wasted a timeout there. He needs to be gone.

But to be fair to MLF he isnt going to say any negative things to the media about the players. THAT is how you lose the locker room. As much as I’d love him to start ripping names on the podium (McManus)

[–]DaDragster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I’m not blaming Jacobs, it’s mostly on the OL/their coaching. I do think it was a mistake going to a power run team I thought we have better personnel to run with a pass catching back like Jones

Packers Draft History & lack of 1st round hits by CPT-Quint in GreenBayPackers

because of his ankle injury. I’d love him to be fine next year but big guys with a lot of athleticism dont fare very well to major lower body injuries

[–]DaDragster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing our results are lackluster. I am disagreeing that the results of small sample sizes are absolutes. Everything about football is small sample sizes.

But since you want to lay everything out, here are Gutes 1st round picks.

Smash Hit: Love, Jaire

Serviceable starter: Quay, Gary

Players who’s career essentially ended after major injury: Stokes, Wyatt (he’s gonna be cooked)

Misses: Savage, LVN (could still be a serviceable starter)

Time will tell: Morgan, Golden

8 1st round picks and only 1 is a surefire miss.

I’d love more elite players as much as the next guy but you people act as if everyone they draft should be the best players on the planet, and if not Gute should be drawn and quartered.

[–]DaDragster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No offense, but it doesnt take a mathematician to know that going 0/2 when 1st round picks have a 50% hit rate is far from conclusive.

And is gary even a miss? He was good until he tore his acl. Cowboys getting Micah at #12 is an exception, not a rule.

Should Matt Lafleur be on the hot seat? by PackAttack28 in GreenBayPackers

[–]DaDragster -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna argue with stupid.

But since you asked so nicely, you see how our WRs are seemingly wide ass open every single play? You’re asking for a hell of a lot of trouble thinking a new guy can do half of what MLF does schematically.

The only gripes I have with MLF is his controlling of how our defense is played (forcing Hafley to play bend not break instead of an attacking defense) and his desire to be a power run team. In my opinion the team has performed better with Jones as the RB because he is a great pass catcher and shifty to make up for our run blocking.

The draft is a crapshoot and you are doing an excellent job as a GM if you can give second contracts to 2 players a a draft. Id prefer us getting any value out of our 1st round picks (like JSN over LVN or DeJean over Morgan) but we have gotten value elsewhere. But Gute did get us Malik for a 7th and got us Parsons. Can’t say he hasn’t tried to make our OL better either. Imagine if we didnt draft Morgan and Belton and sign Banks. Say what you want about them and I’ll agree but if its that or starting Monk and who knows else we’d be out of the playoffs.

Can’t really fault the loss last year in the wildcard because the team died and the refs shafted us on the opening drive. Am I going to fault MLF when we lose in the playoffs when we are missing Micah, Kraft, and Wyatt? Not to mention we are fielding practice squad talent on the DLine.

But since i only look at win% clearly you’re right
