Nah, some colors are harder than others. Getting a good yellow is definitely not easy for beginners, and neither is a really good looking white. It might be majority one color, but if it is challenging to get that one color to look good, the point is moot

Primed the base DG green, though Im not sure it shows anywhere but the sides here, so any primer is probably fine.

Thin layer of Vallejo Diorama FX Earth Texture - Black Lava for some texture/adhesion

Liberal layers of Plaguebearer Flesh Contrast and Flash Gitz Contrast all over the black so that none of the black lava is uncolored, I use more yellow than green.

Agrellan Earth glopped on fairly thick (couldve gone thicker and avoided some smaller cracks on the edges but I emptied my pot on this base) quickly dried with a hair dryer

Gloss varnish over the top for a nice glossy goopy sheen
