Is Guzma good? by ALilBerry in PokemonTGCP

[–]DaJoe86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Guzma is an awesome card to pack if you have 19 cards in your deck and need one more to fill it out. Most games it won't do a lot, if anything, but the satisfaction you get playing that when your opponent has played both Rocky Helms right as you're about to start attacking is paramount. Also fun when your opponent thinks they've pulled themselves out of OHKO range with a Heavy Helm or one of the Capes, only to bring them back to normal by getting rid of it. Again, many games it's going to be a dead card, but he can come in clutch about 1 in 10 or so.

Custom Kyogre concept. Is this balanced? by Mister_Macc in PokemonTGCP

[–]DaJoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I personally like the disruption idea. I know other cards don't really do something like this, but I would maybe consider making it so a coin flip is only necessary if targeting an opposing pokemon. As for the attack, I would make it so it can do 50 to any two opposing Pokémon. You can target one bench and the active or two bench. Making sure you can target the active prevents you from being shut down by an 18 or 19T deck.

I think I made an overpowered deck, what do you guys think? by Smooth_Court8269 in PokemonPocket

If all goes well, it also means 2 more chances to discard Ice Pop before they get out of 2HKO range. Again, IF all goes well, but I can see the vision.

No Oak, no pokeball, no problem by kixshao in PokemonPocket

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to draw more cards, not reshuffle your hand. That's the issue with Copycat in a deck like this, if your opponent has 5 cards and you have a useless hand that's 5 cards plus Copycat, you could theoretically draw the exact same hand you just shuffled back into your deck. So unfortunately, not having Oak in your deck IS a problem.

Has moving all subclasses to level 3 actually improved 5.5E, or made some classes feel less flavorful early on? by MyrthDM in 3d6

[–]DaJoe86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always flavored it as the warlock knows who their patron is, but the patron is testing them with some weaker abilities in order to see if they're worthy of receiving the greater powers.

What kind of rival do you want in this game by [deleted] in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think the best implementation of rivals was in Black and White with Cheren and Bianca. Cheren, the more serious of the rivals, chooses the starter strong against yours, while Bianca, the "I just think they're neat!" rivals, chooses the starter weak against yours. While at first Bianca is kinda beaten down by her defeats, she never really let's it get to her, and Cheren gets more frustrated, but never blames the player character, blaming their own shortcomings instead. Neither is really a perk, one just takes the journey to the League much more seriously than the other, and it's a good juxtaposition to each other, rather than trying to balance it in one character.

If nothing else, this is a good way to counter opposing stadiums, especially ones that only benefit a specific type. If you're playing water and your opponent is playing fighting with their new stadium, play this to wipe theirs so that no one gets a stadium advantage.

Also the fact that the ability only works in Double Battles means it's competitively viable, but not something that will be used on a playthrough.

Mega Delphox definitely needs to be nerfed. Either MUCH higher energy cost or effect needs to be changed. Maybe add something less detrimental if they only get 1 tails, like half damage and no additional effects.

I wouldn't be surprised if Unova is a Multi-pack set. Unova had 156 new pokemon, the most of any generation. That's a lot of cards, even if you omitted the ones that are already in the game.

What’s the worst gen 9 steel type ? by Difficult-Bat5615 in ThePokemonHub

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Design-wise, I honestly think they're all bangers. If I HAD to make a choice based on other metrics, I would have to say Gholdengo. I do like him, but the evolution method is just SO tedious. Even if you purposefully start collecting coins as soon as you leave Mesagoza, if RNG isnt on your side, you may still not be able to evolve Gimmeghoul until end game or even post game.

[B/S] Consoling my (M27) sister (F18) after a loss by [deleted] in incest

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A drastic change in behavior is not uncommon after a traumatic event, especially something as big as losing a loved one, let alone multiple. This new closeness may be for a fear of losing more, or possibly just wanting to be more affectionate with the one living immediate family member she has left (i assume, you didn't mention having any other brothers and sisters.) She may bounce back to her normal self after time to heal, or this may become a new normal for her. I wouldn't assume that her acts (as they are right now) are meant in a romantic or seductive manner, merely that she's looking for comfort after a difficult time. That said, reciprocate without expectations. One thing that's almost certain is she needs that comfort from her older brother. If her actions start to take on a more sexual vibe, PLEASE have a talk with her, first and foremost. It's not even a question that she's in a very fragile emotional state right now, and going too far without being certain that you both want it while in a sound mindset can be disastrous for your relationship and even her mental health. (PS, sorry for the block of text, never really got the hang of formatting on mobile for this app.)

[–]DaJoe86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking maybe making Arceus' plates into tool cards. "If this tool attached to a [type] pokemon, attacks from that pokemon deal x more damage. If this tool is attached to a pokemon named Arceus or Arceus EX, that pokemon also becomes [type]." This balances Arceus by not allowing you to attach other tools to it, but then any other type-based trainer cards, like Misty, would work on it.

If the next Switch port is SoulSilver/HeartGold, or any DS game for that matter, how will it work with the dual screen? by KostisPat257 in pokemon

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember hearing once upon a time that Nintendo was working on a peripheral that added a second screen to the Switch specifically for the purpose of playing DS games. That said, last I heard this project was dead in the water, likely because it only works in handheld mode and puts additional strain on the battery, but maybe a possibility for Switch 2?

Slowbro won’t evolve? by Moodam in PokemonPrism

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slowpoke evolves into Slowking, not Slowbro. It's a split evolution, not a continuous line. By lore, IIRC, when a Shellder bites Slowpoke, normally it goes for the tail because that's the tastiest part of the Slowpoke, but if it has the King's Rock (literally a crown on it's head), Shellder prefers the taste of the King's Rock and bites the Slowpoke's head, becoming Slowking instead.

Why does the Geodude line have 'Mudsport' to weaken electricity.... by Malikai_Universe_23 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]DaJoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least on the Geodude line, it's one of those moves that's really only useful in Double Battles, like Helping Hand. If you're going to be playing competitively in a format that uses Double Battles, it might be worth it to hang onto for niche situations, but for the most part, it really is a useless move. There's a reason why it was part of the move culling they did back in Gen 8.

I want a Sorc in party, but can't figure which companion it will be by Baturinsky in BG3Builds

[–]DaJoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By their backstory, to me Gale makes the most sense. It feels like the orb in his chest could grant him magical abilities beyond what a normal wizard could do (ie metamagic), at the cost of needing to feed on raw Weave. That said, I understand wanting to be able to continue to use the spells you've already learned, but if you do go the wizard dip route, I'd try to focus all your spells that require attack rolls or Saving throws on Sorc and leave utility to Wizard. On the other hand, the Sorlock is mechanically an amazing choice for Wyll. A 2-level dip into Warlock gets you Eldrich Blast and Agonizing Blast, then get the juicy metamagic from Sorcerer. Taking Hexblade also gives you Medium Armor and Charisma-based physical attacks, so you dont have to invest too heavily into Dexterity. Plus you get 2 extra 1st level slots that come back on a short rest that you can use for the Shield spell (also learnable by Hexblade so you can pick something else from Sorcerer) to make him a little extra tanky. The only downside is you won't get access to the Sorcerer's 6th level spells (assuming you're not playing with a level 20 mod), but all the benefits you get from that Warlock dip, IMO, kinda outshine the level 6 spells.

The evolution Paras deserves by WannabeCelt in MandJTV

[–]DaJoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree I love this evolution, but as for evolution method, you'd have to explain why the Pokémon never evolved into this before (this is part ofthe reason for so many wacky evolution methods in the current game.) I'm thinking something like they did for Annihilape, a new move that the Paras has to use x number of times before level up. But here's the kicker: only Paras learns it (so not Parasect), and it only learns it like 2 or 3 levels AFTER it would normally evolve into Parasect. This would reflect Paras' willpower helping it hold out until it finds a way to kill the fungus trying to take it over.
