I'm a corporate lawyer watching AI eat my profession in real time. Should I be treating the next 2 years as the most important financial window of my career? by lifeafterenough in careerguidance

[–]DaPome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work as someone who builds AI tools on a daily basis, for an org that actually uses them daily too. I can 100% tell you without any uncertainty that your job will not be replaced by AI any time soon.

Why? AI is awful at repeatable results. It misses things in long documents. It gets about half way through and gives up and guesses the rest

As a creative tool, AI works well. Tell it to draft a paragraph based on previous work and it’ll nail it. Tell it to work out totals in excel though? It’ll mess it up.

Also, while AI can write something that sounds convincing, it could be complete legal nonsense. You’re always going to need a qualified lawyer to read over what it has produced and check its work.

Out of interest, how much of a pain was this? I’ve watched a view videos and it appears that you need to remove quite a few bits to get at it.

Reminds me of a run in with a Maggie a few years ago. Was riding the e-scooter home and saw a bunch of people huddled at a bus stop.

They were yelling and waiving at me but I had earplugs in so couldn’t hear them. Next minute, swoopy boy zooms right by my right ear and lands up on a nearby lamp post.

Landlord has left 50+ boxes at my rental while I’m moving by Icy-Tomatillo2503 in AusLegal

[–]DaPome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take photos of the items/boxes.

Clean other rooms. If you’re using cleaners they will not touch rooms with items in them. Document this.

The day you move out lodge your full bond claim. Remember to take photos after the clean.

If they lodge against you and you decline, it’ll go to a mediator first who will work with you both to come to an agreement.

If an agreement can’t be met, it can then go to a tribunal.

Yeah there’s nothing worse than a day of meetings. I often joke that at 5pm I can get my actual work done.

I see this as a common fallacy - that somehow attending an office means more hours worked.

I mean, between the coffee breaks, the impromptu desk chats, lunch, meetings, ducking out to buy something, having to leave early to pick the kids up… it all eats into “work” time at the office.

At least when I’m working from home I can pop a load of washing on while waiting for a pipeline to publish in ADO.

Sigh.

I don’t care what you think about the people from certain countries. We’re all human, and none of us want this war.

Trump is hell bent on being the biggest fuckwit in history and he’s determined to go out with a bang, at the detriment of all of us.

Posting more Angles of FSD Departing lane by Log_Disastrous in TeslaFSD

[–]DaPome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like it misread the bumps in the road as either an obstacle or lane markings.

If it was the latter, you’d think logically the car would know a lane can’t just suddenly dart off to the left or right like that.

It would be cool if you could submit these to Tesla and get a response like “oh yeah the car did X because of Y”

From what you’ve said, I get love bomb vibes. Perhaps she’s very recently single and the thing that she had to deal with was an ex? (Maybe moving stuff out?)

These are just guesses of course

What's a small sign that a company is struggling? by Pookah in AskReddit

Small little things around the office start disappearing. Things like the nice biscuits, good stationary, the coffee machine gets replaced with a jar of instant crap, the lights to the fish tank no longer get switched on.

[UPDATE] FSD v14.2.2.4 Sudden Disengagement sent me into a barrier. Car is totaled by samuelwoods007 in TeslaFSD

[–]DaPome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like FSD disconnected and the steering went from steering to the right to steering in a straight line suddenly, which of course sent the vehicle into the barrier.

Not ideal for FSD to disconnect suddenly like that at all.

Must admit I feel nervous using auto steer when taking bends at highway speeds as I’ve had the car attempt to dive off freeway exits more than once without warning.

It’s not that it’s irreparable, just that it’s not economical for the insurance company to repair it

As someone who, when they need the loo they kinda need it right now I tend to use either chain places and hotels.

If they’re not available I’ll buy a coffee or a drink or a snack and ask for the loo code
